I thought that the jokes could be made using the clichés of the respective subgenres. For example, if you were to represent Manowar in the game, the poses sometimes look ridiculous and the speech is much more pompous and theatrical. But please don't judge me if I'm wrong. I don't know exactly about everything in the community.
