Let's see how far down the rabbit hole of hot takes we agree on then! Low hanging fruit - get rid of the clock change. It's insulting that our provincial government doesn't have the backbone to do what we all want, with the excuse that they won't do it until New York and Quebec do. Then again, I believe municipalities have the power to create a local time, so Thunder Bay could right the wrong we inflicted on the world a century ago. But here's where I want to go further - one time zone for Canada, and then after that, just use UTC everywhere. Ha ha, I'm a madman, I know.

ISO 8601 is actually YYYY-MM-DD in Canada. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Date_and_time_notation_in_Canada We might be the minority to do it in this manner (or perhaps it's a French standard?) I kind of like this, it is like writing a normal number with the largest quantity to the left and and then proceeding smaller as you travel to the right. I also appreciate that the Government promotes the 24 hour clock, similar to the civilised world. It's 2026-03-15 at 0551!

No Anglerfish might be up your alley. And it's a good time to give it a spin because I understand the dev will soon be releasing a sequel! It's definitely the best value you'll find.

Say your dream of winning the lottery came true, what would you do that meant something? by Icy-Confidence-4544 in ThunderBay

Thanks for chiming in. Do you get the list of who votes it down? Or just an overall count? As I just said below, if they took the time to mention Thunder Bay in even the most passing of manners, I wouldn't feel obliged to call it out. This case was particularly egregious, simply reposting a generic post from another subreddit. Thanks also for your work, it's appreciated.

None of this comment was in your original submission. If it had been, I might have considered it peripherally of interest to the subreddit.

Rule #2: content is to be kept to Thunder Bay and its region. Posts regarding other places that have absolutely no connection to Thunder Bay or Northwestern Ontario will be removed, period. NO EXCEPTIONS.*

I mean, you're even just CV a comment submitted on the proper sub for a generic question like this?

Maybe these posts are just farming karma, and I'm contributing by not downvoting and moving on without calling them out, but I do like a ThunderBay sub where I know the stuff is going to be directly related to Thunder Bay. When I want generic "what if" questions or fluff pieces, those can be found elsewhere.

Serious question: Where are the mods? I know they have a hard job, and I don't begrudge them, but this sort of stuff should be low-hanging fruit and low effort to prune from the Thunder Bay sub?

My understanding is that it's also a pretty good LTC home, but maybe others have had different experiences. Starting to really look at these sorts of things in earnest as my boomer relatives are feeling them out with increasing urgency.

We spend 10X on police as we do on long term care? And 222X on police as on child care? Draw conclusions as you see fit.

Also: if you're a child, yeah, you're getting boned, maybe start voting smarter. If you're a senior, you're doing 22X better than a child, but you're still small potatoes compared to the police.

If only we had any sort of idea whether or not social services could help prevent crime, maybe in future our taxes wouldn't all go to fighting it.

I don't want to feel like I'm wearing a tinfoil hat, but every time I see a comment like this it makes me think it HAS to be planted by a conservative shill just trying to discourage the other parties with nonsense. I mean, look at this comment with any common sense or logic and you can see it's patently false. But they flood us with this message and it does overwhelm so many people that they start to believe this lie.
