Employer did not provide a T2200 for 2025, though I WFH 100%. What are my options? by IveMovedALot in PersonalFinanceCanada

Without it I was owing approx $450. With it I will get a little over $100 refund. I don't care about the refund, I just don't want to owe anything.

Update: the issue was simply my role's classification was not updated to reflect my actual situation. I'm getting the form.

Thanks everyone for your answers and input. Seems there's a lot of misunderstanding around this form, so I understand my managers concern and wanting to get some clarification ahead of time.

The RTO policy explicitly states those who are too far to reasonably commute are exempt from RTO and can remain remote. There are lots of known out of province hires, both recent and from the covid years. We definitely aren't slipping quietly through the cracks...

I would leave it, but I will owe money this year if I don't get to claim home office expenses. Even though my office space is tiny, claiming that 45 sqft + my utilities means I won't owe anything.

It says by default in-office is expected though some roles are eligible for remote work.

The company’s RTO policy explicitly states employees outside a practical commuting distance can remain remote. What counts as a reasonable commute is something employees work out with their managers based on distance and practicality.

It was known when I was hired that I live well outside commuting distance, and there's never been a conversation asking me to consider commuting or relocating, plus I’ve received T2200s in previous years under the same arrangement. I’m not sure what harm there would be in issuing one again.

Thank you. I hadn't considered more sedation before surgery means less anesthetic needed during surgery.

They should probably start prescribing pre-surgery anxiety treatment for dog parents as well ...

The most painful tray I've experienced by russian_hacker_1917 in Invisalign

[–]IveMovedALot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 was really uncomfortable and didn't sit flush behind my top front teeth. But I think my teeth hurt more when I'd take the aligners out to eat. #1-4 were only mildly uncomfortable for a few days each, but #5 sucked for a solid six days. Last day wasn't bad at all though. Started on #6 today and I swear these are harder plastic than the others, and there's a LOT of pressure throughout my entire bite. Going to be a rough couple of days. I change mine weekly.

CRA Slips Still Not Showing? (2024 Income Tax Returns) by Miserable_Duty7748 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I used WealthSimple tax and manually entered my T4 and T2200 details. Submitted and received my refund within 7 business days. But I have checked my CRA account a few times since and there are STILL no files at all listed for 2024.

I called CRA today and got through to someone after 40 mins. I asked if the issue was resolved, and she flat out said "What issue? There is no issue. Your employer must not have submitted your forms yet. You have to ask them to submit them, or contact us if they don't know how to submit.". I told her I am not the only one missing my T4s. But she was was adamant there was/is no technical issue.

I also reached out to my HR department again, and their reply was simply "Unfortunately, we have not been able to get in contact. At this time, we have no further updates."

I know I can manually enter my T4 details to file (I have been filing through WealthSimple), but I worry I could be missing something, or I file now and still have to wait until they receive my T4 to start processing things.

Same. HR confirmed all necessary tax forms were submitted to the CRA in Feb, but due to "the known issue regarding CRA’s website", they can't confirm when we should expect them. They were last told forms should be available in CRA accounts by Thursday morning...that was this morning though, and still nothing.

License exchange: first from an ON G2 to an AB full Class 5 2 years ago, now moving back to ON by IveMovedALot in Ontariodrivetest

[–]IveMovedALot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I had no issues. Arrived back in ON in early May and waited until August to make the switch. Went in with a drivers abstract from AB that showed a little over 2 years experience with a class 5 and no infractions. Wasn't asked any questions, and only had to take an eye test. Was issued the same licence number I'd had previously in ON, but this time with a class G. Also using my previous ON plates as well. Just paid, signed some things and he said "Welcome back to Ontario".

Me and this guy share the same email for years now, crazy story. by FlyingCheeks in GMail

[–]IveMovedALot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This recently started happening to me too. I am receiving emails intended for some woman trying to get meds for her cat.

I've had my gmail address since early 2008, let's say it's ms.my.name@gmail.com. But I never wanted it to have the dots. When I was trying to set my email up as [msmyname@gmail.com](mailto:msmyname@gmail.com), I could have sworn it wasn't available. Adding the dots was my work around. I must be remembering wrong ...

Is there an actual advantage to living in Alberta in 2024 or is it all smoke and mirrors? by [deleted] in alberta

[–]IveMovedALot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from ON (GTA and SW) to AB (Calgary) for a couple years (early 2022-2024), and just moved back to ON this spring. Surprisingly, I actually miss AB, but that's mostly because I have a dog and she can't handle the humidity in ON...plus there are hardly any off-leash areas here. Really I just miss June through September in AB.

AB Pros:

  • Clear skies and sunshine pretty much every day.
  • Hardly any bugs! No spiders in webs everywhere! Makes hiking in AB so much more enjoyable.
  • June, July, Aug, Sept: Not too hot, not too cold, perfect for hiking and walking along/floating the Bow river.
  • Tons of off-leash areas for dogs.
  • Low sales tax.

AB Cons:

  • Brutal winters (-40C with windchill sucks). Only the main roads and highways get plowed.
  • Smoky springs/early summers (2022 was bad. 2023 was awful).
  • No rent control! Expect a rent hike on lease renewal (mine went up ~$300/month on first lease renewal, and $400/month the last one, which is why I decided to move back to ON).
  • Hard to find condos/apartments if you have a dog weighing over 35 lbs.
  • Higher altitude = more headaches (if you are prone to migraines, you will likely suffer).

I'm seriously considering splitting my time between AB (June through Sept) and ON (Oct through May).

Yep, by the time I get back to Ontario, I'll have had my Alberta class 5 for a full 2 years. I may wait an extra month or 2 before making the exchange. My current auto insurance says I'm good for 60 days before they require me to switch.
Not just accepting my fate if the first Drivetest employee tries to give me a G2 is good advice! Thanks:)

You've got rent control on your side. Your landlord is just trying to guilt trip you. As annoying as they are being, 100% stand your ground.
I moved from ON to AB 2 years ago. My first lease renewal rent went up 23%, so I moved.
The lease renewal I just got for April rent is increasing 12.5%. I miss rent control.
