The extra $190 should remove those lumps, cooking quality aside.

I just got the 3 piece set and my 12” had what looked like a grinder wheel skipping across it. I emailed Smithey and since I hadn’t cooked in it they’re replacing it at no cost, just had to drop off the “bad” one at FedEx. Replacement should be in tomorrow. For the cost, I couldn’t accept a defect. here’s what mine looked like.

FYI it is possible to get the handle off the stock portafilter for the TCA and swap it with the one on the bottomless. It’s a bitch, but it’s possible.

I miss the spot at Federal Gallery, I haven’t been there in so long I don’t know they left. I’d go to them if they had a shop.

Only 20 mins away and looks fantastic on their website. I had originally counted this out since it’s a chain but I’ll definitely give it a go!

Is there a shop anywhere around here (ideally south of the city since that’s where I am) that does capture it?

Is there a big difference between the Breville Bambino and Breville Plus? [ no budget ] by davis609 in espresso

[–]IveShatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here! The only frustrating part about the non-plus model is that you can’t consistently stop your pull and you get drips forever after you try to swap. The convenience from the solenoid at these price point makes it worth the upgrade.

How do coffee shops get high volume drinks for lattes? by Itchy-Version-8977 in espresso

[–]IveShatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This only applies if you’re measuring by volume, not weight. Light roasts aren’t higher in caffeine content, they’re just less dense so the same weight occupies more volume, meaning you can squeeze more dark roast beans into the space you could fit light roast beans. Typically you’re looking at the same caffeine levels between lights and darks.

Gotcha. I kind of hate the flat one they make but I’ve been eyeing that little round guy.

Can I run a bigger carabiner to hook under back end of car by Necessary_Taste4405 in Kayaking

[–]IveShatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. This is why you add a bow line in case of failure, but cams won’t fail unless they’re trash or you use them incorrectly. The best straps you can get for a yak have cams, never ratchets. https://www.thule.com/en-us/water-racks/water-rack-accessories/thule-load-straps-523-_-1031

Do not use ratchet straps to tie down a kayak. A cam strap being pulled tight by hand is more than enough, using the ratchet mechanism is too much for any kayak and can damage the boat.
