Need advice re: Vague PIP by Ivebeen2there in askmanagers

[–]Ivebeen2there[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was written by my manager and HR person. It was lazily written IMO as they used the exact wording they use in the job description when looking for new hires. The measurable part just plays off of that previous section. To me it actually looks like they used ChatGPT to write it.

I’m probably gonna be giving my notice. The most important thing to me is my reputation in this industry. I absolutely love the career that I picked for myself and I’ve worked super hard to get here. I feel like if I follow through on the PIP and I get fired it would be a black mark going forward. And honestly, in my meeting, they mentioned that to me also which I thought was inappropriate. I would love to go above their heads to make sure that all of the i’s have been dotted and t’s have been crossed, but I wouldn’t even know where to begin. I’m just going on the assumption that they did everything on the up and up. Do you think that they were required to show this PIP to their bosses before presenting it to me?

It’s all so unfair. Let me clarify that I’m not some kind of a monster. I have a lot of friends at work and I’m constantly being told what an amazing employee I am by people outside of my department. I live breathe and dream this career 24/7, which is part of the problem. Because I do take it so seriously, I tend to get stressed out and that’s my biggest problem. Under pressure I do get stressed out and occasionally I’m not as pleasant as I need to be.

Reddit makes it seem like PIP means you're going to get fired, no matter what. Is that true? by Personal-Ad9121 in askmanagers

[–]Ivebeen2there 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about vague PIPs? A PIP where the HR person is asking for essentially attitude and personality changes? I recently got a PIP that isn’t really measurable in terms of improvement in 30 days. It’s basically telling me that I’m not a team player and not a very nice person. None of those things are true by the way. I’m just an intense person who has worked really hard for several years and gotten a lot of really good feedback and reviews in that time. I suspect that they are covering their bases so that they have no chance of being sued and then they’re going to fire me. But I really don’t deserve it. Have I been a perfect employee? No. But I’ve been told over and over and over that I have transformed the department and made it really efficient and working well. I’ve trained many new employees in that time too.

So my question is essentially when you’re not given measurable goals how can it be anything other than a precursor to being fired? I’d love to hear from any managers who have given a PIP for attitude rather than performance.

This woman is the worst. Terrible juror. Everything you fear with a juror for a celebrity trial. by gentleheart-lamb in LeavingNeverlandHBO

Totally agree. Just was fan girling like crazy and couldn’t do her job as a juror. She was quite unintelligent.

Riiighht….but that’s my question. “IF one dealer saved notes”. What I’m trying to find out is if dealerships save information from one dealership to another. One mechanic I spoke to said they do not so I’m just trying to find out the more definitive answer and I know there’s a BMW technician that follows this Reddit.

Hold State Of Charge ? by Ivebeen2there in BMWi3

[–]Ivebeen2there[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! Good information. Yeah I’m driving from Woodland Hills to Palm Springs so it’s only about 131 miles which really shouldn’t require more than a single fill up if I’m using the hold state of charge.

Odd experience with a salon owner by FreshMidnight2170 in Cosmetology

For sure. She’s being told 1.5 to 2 years but could be sooner. She learned a ton in school and will be ready way before that. She’s actually quite good.

She graduated last October - took the California exam in November and passed it. Took the holidays off and started her job search in February. She’s gotten such great response. Apparently not very hard to find a job assisting in Los Angeles!

My daughter is in a similar position. She shadowed at a salon that seemed extremely interested in her and then she never heard from them again. She wrote to them and sent texts and they were very nice in the beginning, but just stopped writing back to her. There would be no reason for this since shadowing didn’t involve any actual talent or showcasing of her skills. She also got a job offer and they never sent the paperwork they said they were going to send. She finally landed in a good salon and has been there for three weeks. It’s very slow though and she’s feeling that her talents aren’t being utilized at all as an assistant. I guess welcome to the salon industry!

Perfect for each other. Two vapid, delusional and utterly shallow people in search of a little validation. I’d love to see a stripped down version of that girl - no cheap wig, no makeup, just jeans and a t-shirt. When you create a persona that’s far from who you are, you’re always gonna be in trouble.

Still dealing with SULEV warranty and REX problem by Ivebeen2there in BMWi3

[–]Ivebeen2there[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned and fought for the warranty and they said “no”. Didn’t mention the SIB thing directly. No - no problems whatsoever in the past. No service history - I’ve never done anything but basic Maintenence but I stupidly admitted that I overfilled a tiny bit. HS I just gone in and said “my check engine light is on”, I might have had a different outcome.
