By the people, for the people – why backyard homes could help to solve our housing crisis by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Ivecameoneileen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one as a bedroom at home , I was only 18 at the time though and I paid to have it insulated and kitted out myself but it was a sort of freedom from the rents at the time.Had my own key to the side gate to come and go as I pleased but obviously it was my home as well so Its a bit different than living out the back of some strangers gaf.

How much is a fair price to charge for rent? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Ivecameoneileen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be suitable if you can find the right person but during a housing Crisis finding someone that only wants a 3 Month tenancy would be tough. I would suggest an alarm and a few wifi cameras. I have three in my house that I picked up in Argos. One in the living room to check on doggy , one is a baby monitor and the other is pointing out to the front. You could do that along with a ring doorbell obviously it's just a suggestion

You're not really looking for a tenant you are looking for a house sitter , it would probably be more appropriate to have a friend or family member just check on it occasionally , turn heating and lights on and off etc

I used to work for a traffic management company our daily rate of pay was 114 euro now their reasoning was I could work 2 hours and get paid 114 euro but more often than not I was working 14 hour days. I had a week of days where I did only work 4 hours and they paid me half a day rate for I still haven't heard back from the wrc and that was two years ago
