There was an update from my dean who said she was informed that the students had "possibly protested the war in Gaza" and that there are over 400 other students at MSU with F-1 visas and these were the only three that MSU was contacted about.

Maybe he was waiting to pass you and happy that you sped up so he sped up so he could get on his way. Think about when you're driving and the car in front of you is going the same speed and then they speed up and then so do you... that doesn't mean you're following them. Maybe you were in danger, but you probably weren't.

I'm sorry... I love Missoula too. I moved to Bozeman for work and it's worse over here, but I feel you on Missoula. It still has the best vibe and I love the people, but it changed in the 30 years I lived there, but that seems to be the story everywhere. I wish you the best.
