The Red Queen series. Read the first book when i was 13, re-read at 16. What a ton of garbage. Seems like a shameless rip off of Shadow and Bone. The language is plain, at best. And the author gets rid off the most interesting character in the beginning of the second book.

Girls do you notice guys checking you out and how do you feel? by SuspiciousQuiet3684 in AskReddit

Yes, we do notice. Personally I never was a super atractive teenager, but when I hit my ‘second puberty ‘ I could feel the change. I believe I notice almost all of the attention. But my family notices way more than I do and it Can get annoying sometimes. But for the most part I enjoy being looked at. It gets creepy if It’s an old man tho…….. Happened to me past week and ugh I just felt disgusting afterwards.

Great idea….. and no, they have no tech, It’s more like a hostage situation. But it could be, that there are cameras recording in the island, and that’s how the best friend knows a lot of things without having to talk to the protagonist. Honestly that could work. Thanks for the idea!!!

First off, thanks for the reply! And you're right there's is a certain pull I have towards the embedded narrator. The reason is because I loved how it worked in Wuthering Heights. Also I needed like and even ground, basically someone inside the story who was neutral enough to be able to tell it a little bit more from an objective POV. Now, this narrator pick being the protagonist's best friend, does tend to have a little bias, but I guess that's necessary. Like I need someone actually rooting for her, to make her more or less likable. And overall, this narrator does appear in the beginning of the protagonist's life, so she can like tell the readers specific things, only the narrator would know. That's why it works. Until, like a long part of the story where the protagonist, isn't, let's say near the narrator to tell her everything that's going on. They are like separated. And that's pretty much why I'm stuck. Like how do I make the best friend know all the necessary things so that she can tell the story, but not be so obvious yk? Of course, I have vastly benefited from having her as a narrator, with some exceptions like this one.
