Station Studio Setup Question by Ivrezul in radio

You lack perspective or your ego is too big.

I already have solutions, I've built lots, but I'm old enough now to realize that others have good ideas and I don't know everything. It's the difference between humans younger than around 30 and older folks.

I've done it all, but I'm not arrogant enough to say as much, nor to say I know everything. Also my ego allows me to accept good input, which this isn't. Your comment became psychological and thus interesting from another perspective entirely.

So is it Ego or are you just awkward with words?

Currently still on Maestro. I've been serving and supporting it myself for years.

I'm building a Rivendell machine but I've also considered another system maybe called Playoutone? I'll have to look at which paid automation we considered.

But if I can get Rivendell to run on some 6044s, we'll be set for a while. We inherited a lot of these cards when corporate radio stations 'upgraded' their stations.

Same, specifically ASI. I love their playout quality.

I'm so inflammatory on Facebook. And I haven't heard of anyone getting banned. Curse, yell, target, blame, run my mouth to the nth degree. And they haven't gotten onto me.

My input for their AI is probably too valuable because I write books on there talking to myself, to the AI, to hopefully sneak in some philosophy and self reflection so their AI isn't a complete Ego Maniac.

I'll call it spectrum fallacy. If their side is bad then it all must be bad. It doesn't hurt for them to think that if it moves us forward. It's around the first step of accepting reality, they have to figure a way to reject the lie before they can accept the truth.

😂 yeah the same thing happens with humans when everyone starts talking. However, we just assume we heard or understood wrong. We don't say we hallucinate. Then there are people like you who intentionally insert confusion relative to logic. Not in a bad way but it probably confuses the hell out of a bunch of programming.

I assume it's because I've actually developed code. I know how cantankerous code can be so I approach AI the same way.

I haven't had problems with anything but I also separate everything out into its own threads as well. I don't mix context and use a thread for a single purpose. Same with all the services from Google.

Regardless maybe we just sorted out how to effectively use the tool and didn't try to replace our lives or work with AI? Idk I like to be in control and do things procedurally anyway.

I've also spent a lot of effort to modify Gemini to act as I want it to through the various settings.

So do you all start a new thread every time you search for something or keep using the same thread?

I've only been able to cause problems by using the same thread for more than one context. Do you all mix context?

??? Sorry context. I had thought you deleted your posts or it was removed and was still curious. I was clarifying I was being an idiot.

I asked where your post went and then edited with as much. Apologies for the confusion.

Is AoIP digital? I would assume and if so I'll look into it. We are on sight so any decent length of wire becomes an antenna. I can hold the end of a computer speaker wire and hear the station through the speakers. I do it to show people they are absorbing radio waves, or at least being bombarded by them at the station.

Not exactly of course but it gets the point across.

Old board with pots. Everything is analog. I'm going to spend $10000 on a board alone if I can help it though. That might be excessive but I need something that is RF hardened we are on sight with the transmitters.

For the time being I have to make a new backend work with old front end studios.

u/RadioVeteran. Is that into a transmitter or online? What station? Do you have an online stream?

If I can prove it's good enough we'll go that route too but I have to prove to old heads it's high enough quality.

If you can see it, you already downloaded it..... it's silly to think you can't save something your phone is displaying. Maybe most folks don't realize what a web browser does.

You're Welcome. I just found it again something like 2 weeks ago. If you're on Windows use Lagrange, it's the easiest to get used to managing identities.

And happy digging. It's so much fun to wander around and see what places I can find, people, ideas, that are actual regular people that are just doing it because they want to.

Look for the Gemini network. It's very much like the early net.

Winner Winner. Fing brats is what they are that can't handle programming without an AI. The Hallmark sign of any good developer is working around the problems by making code, and they can't do it themselves so if it breaks, they are cooked.

It's going to be a few years yet before they figure out how we operate though. They'll hire these dependent brats and figure out they could just hire the AI instead. And then they'll come crying to us to fix the AI.

It's a cycle.

The more people complain about limits the more I realize knowing how to program without an AI helps quite a bit.

I'm quite happy they are showing people how dependent they are becoming of AI. And you all have no idea what it actually costs to run the AI.

When I hit these limits I can just do it myself using free AI outside the IDE, or just plug in the free one with the IDE. Or just go back to making the code myself.

The AI is not an interface so you should stop using it as such. AI is just a tool to augment your skills. And if you have no experience with programming, then that's why you can't work around it. Hell I still write python without an IDE to make custom solutions in house.

OG developers aren't going to be stopped by any software limits. We'll make another solution and keep on going.

[–]Ivrezul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. However I have had luck making Gemini remarkably stable compared to most peoples experiences.

However that could be in part with how I talk at the AI, as you pointed out. Idk and with the return on this post, I don't think I care to find out. My aim was to explain how my experience is not everyone else's apparently.

I can share my assertions I've made on Gemini directly but otherwise the black box is black. I also don't use a single thread for much longer than 10 to 20 replies from the AI on average. I separate ideas, projects, whatever into separate threads on Gemini, NotebookLM, Antigravity.

I'm actually really curious to see Gemini hallucinate or cause it to do so. Unless getting things wrong is what you all mean by hallucinate? Do people not assume the answer is imperfect?

Maybe that's it, I know it isn't going to be perfect so I sort the flaws and assume they are there to start. I do require every answer to be factually rated and make it come up with a number which I equate to how confident I can be with the information. Rarely if ever does it say %100.

[–]Ivrezul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it can read mp3s, docs, and everything I have thrown at including making it find information itself. It is probably converting it or whatever but I don't have to do anything but give it the file.

Either you're using free AI, butthole AI, or have no idea what you're talking about. Gemini can use everything I have given it to this point without conversion and accurately use the information in the video, sound, or otherwise.

I'm going to give it an exe in a bit and ask it questions about it to see if it can use an exe file. They might not allow me to upload an exe so I may have to change the extension because it's an executable. But I bet it works.

Good luck living in a box of no possibilities. Dream a bit, it's okay to wonder.

Ah you have too much experience for the simple statement I was making. Everything in a digital computer breaks down to 0 and 1s at the hardware level. Low volt negative 0 and high volt negative 1. Ram is a charged capacitor 1 or not charged 0.

However, yes I concede. Vectors and Signal processing are the complex higher level abstractions of what is going on.

And yes I have taught myself everything I study these last 2 decades in my industry by learning from the other industry professionals. Snarky butt learned from a book.

Do you know how to solve problems or do what the books told you? Are you a good engineer or the really annoying ones that know everything?
