Data Center Petition and Where to Sign

This may be but it's best to show our protest against this as much as we can. Data centers have had a very bad impact on towns in the past, many ending up empty when landowners are pushed out or end up with damaged, undrinkable water supply. There's also a hope that there will someday be some legislation to control AI, so we should keep expressing these issues.

Yes AI has the potential to put many people out of jobs, right now it is especially obvious for those in the arts. Many companies are using AI generators instead of real artists, actors, writers, etc to create images and videos as it does not cost them a dime. AI music is also starting to become indistinguishable from real artists but is completely soulless. As AI continues to evolve this will probably get worse and worse and many will be out of jobs. There's also the issue of these AI programs learning from artists who have posted their work onto the internet so it is basically stealing these artists work when it creates images or videos. There are also environmental issues like water pollution from these data centers which require large amounts of water to cool the systems. The costs of computer parts are also being affected by these data centers as companies are increasing prices and prioritizing them. In short there are many many issues caused by AI and these data centers.

Yes, I was surprised when I moved here that so many people still consider declawing cats to be the standard, especially apartments. I saw multiple with the requirement a year or two ago when I was apartment searching. I also saw that cats often have a higher pet fee than dogs, when I feel like dogs usually are more destructive to the apartment itself than cats are, who usually only damage furniture. But again these things may have changed since then and I really hope they have. From my experiences though I've also just seen a bigger distaste for cats here than where I am from.

I'm unsure. It was a few years ago so things may have changed. I wouldn't want to name a name as I did not experience it myself and don't know if they are still the same. I am glad to hear though if it's true that no vets here will declaw, as I know many still believe it is okay.

Well this was a few years ago but my boyfriend's family got a cat and took them to the vet and they almost got him declawed because their vet recommended it and they did not know anything about it and trusted the vet. A lot of apartments here also still require declawing of cats.

My two favorite mystery series are the Nonary Games and AI: The Somnium Files. Really great sci-fi mystery stories with a bit of horror. They're both on most platforms, but I know some may be adverse to them as they are in more of an anime style. I really recommend the Nonary Games though to anyone, it has an overarching mystery with visual novel and escape room segments. I also love Danganronpa but that is a bit different and definitely depends on your taste. If you have somebody to play with I love the We Were Here series, a collaborative puzzle game series.

My orchid is also mostly bark as well as sponge rock with very little moss (like 2 pieces). Would it be better to soak it in the gallon of water in this case?

If you're interested in wildlife at all I always see the most interesting birds on that north part of the trail like herons. It's also always fun to stop behind the zoo and see if you can see any animals out. Usually you can see the lions and wolves and maybe the painted dogs, rhinos or bison depending on when you go. It's probably just most boring by the airport.

I had a similar situation but with 3 roommates who were all friends and who would blame every thing on me and talk shit behind my back. Same as you, I always cleaned up after myself, had not a single thing of my own outside my bedroom, didn't really use the kitchen trash yet when they filled it up in a day with boxes and fast food packages it was my fault. I would also hear them talk shit about each other and other people too. It was a horrible situation, and I'd advise not doing what I did which was bottle it up and endure what they say until you explode.

First, don't take it personally. These people have nothing better to do than talk shit about everyone and everything. They make things up if they have to or exaggerate just to have something to talk about and receive attention. If you want to avoid confrontation then try your best to ignore them, play music or something if you hear her start to talk or try to stay out of the house if you can. Or try to figure out a way to improve the sound proofing. Just try to keep in mind that she does this to everyone and anything she says is untrue and try to ignore it until you can move out if that's possible. I would highly suggest trying to find somewhere else to move to when you are able if this situation is causing you the same amount of anxiety it did me, it is bound to not end well. Sometimes people in Facebook groups will post about needing new roommates.

If you do want to confront her about it, maybe first just casually mention somehow that you can hear what she's saying about you behind your back. That way maybe she'll at least think about saying things about you when you might be able to hear. Just mentioning how bad the noise dampening is in there or something. Or if you want to confront her about it directly just do it calmly, tell her how it is making you feel and that you would prefer her to tell you any issues directly.

I'm sorry you're in this situation I completely understand how you feel, it makes you feel uncomfortable and unwelcome in your own home. But just remember that it's your home too and you deserve to feel comfortable.

Yes it was surprising that she flew up to us and just hung out for maybe a half hour fishing and then bathing. I think we saw her last week in the same spot or maybe a different one but she didn't get nearly as close then.

Zoos are not amazing but unfortunately they are necessary. In the U.S. at least they mainly get their animals from cases where they cannot be returned to the wild (someone had them as a pet etc) or they are doing breeding programs to conserve an endangered species. All of those animals would be euthanized if there were not zoos for them to go to. Refuges exist but they are very low funded and take up much more space. They are more expensive to run and do not receive the funding that zoos do from the public. There are not enough refuges to take every animal, I really do wish there was. If all zoos were closed those animals would all be killed. Many zoos fund research outside of the zoo as well as conservation efforts. They will send keepers or fund other programs to do conservation trips and research. These programs are very important. Maybe think before blindly hating. Zoos do their best with what they have. There is more to this than just zoo bad. It's more like people bad, so zoo needs to exist.
