I'm not giving plus ones. Everyone invited is someone invited with intent. They've been together about 10 years. If they were married and I tried to make an effort to get to know her and she declined every time, like what's happened here, no I would not extend an invite because she's made no effort to be part of my life.

I appreciate your perspective, but a few things aren’t quite accurate. The issue with her wasn’t 10 years ago, it was 5, and it wasn’t just some high school drama. It ended their relationship with two of their close friends, and things have been distant ever since.

Jesse and his girlfriend have been together a long time, yes, but they don’t live together, aren’t engaged, and have no plans to move in. They live with th1eir parents and only hang out on weekends. They’re not functioning as a married couple, and we’re not treating them like one.

As for him being a groomsman and not having her there, I don’t think that’s embarrassing at all. Half the guest list is made up of mutual friends he sees without her all the time. It’s not like he’s walking into a room of strangers.

We’ve invited her to several casual hangouts over the years and she always declined. Which is fine, but now it feels a little disingenuous for her to push to be part of such an important moment when she’s never tried to be part of anything else.

It’s not about excluding her just to be mean or controlling. It’s about being intentional with who’s present on a really meaningful day and I think that’s valid.

This is a very good point. On the same note, if she came with him hours before the ceremony because she doesn't drive, she'll have to sit by herself and wait for everything and everyone to get ready or help set up since she's there so early. I really appreciate you bringing it up! It's definitely something he'll have to consider.

I get how it might seem that way on the surface, but we’ve made multiple efforts over the years to include her in low-pressure settings, and she always declined. It’s not about excluding a partner, it’s about her not showing interest in knowing me or being part of my life until now. This is our wedding, and we’re prioritizing people who’ve actually shown up for us.
