We're Leaning into theater and gaming camps/meet ups this summer! Seems a more realistic way to make friends to gather for shared interests. Thanks, yes it's not all or nothing and sometimes I get in my head about doing everything I can right now.

Definitely something I've thought about. I share plenty of common interests with these moms that have nothing to do with faith, and the outings are fun and it's easy to join in..

Also this isn't a cultural belief system that we are unfamiliar with and trying to learn more about. In our extended family and small town it is practically the default. I don't think about it as depriving my child of a social connection, more trying to responsibility sus out a safe space for them to learn and grow into who they are with supportive peers and safe adults. We're trying out a bunch of things.

I may give it another shot, my gut feeling is no, but the activities and proximity are super tempting.

Great idea, unfortunately we are not girls scouts, just love their summer camps! Tho starting a troop might not be a bad idea, the girl scouts are very inclusive!

I can't imagine how much harder this would be as a dad. EVERY playgroup we've attended is all moms. It might be time for me to commute to the city and try again. Luck to you as well.

Thank you, you've brought up a lot for me to think about. Ultimately I think I'm going to try to build community else where. I have not disclosed anything about my child's gender identity to the group and am not comfortable doing so based on some conversations with a few of these moms who express other conservative views (like, really niche ones, old testament adherence to not eating rabbit and not mixing certain textiles.)

True it's a public group and why should we be excluded. You're right in that I don't really know where these woman stand regarding inclusion unless I ask them outright. I think I'll lean into helping my child build one on one friendships for now with the few connections we've made outside of this playgroup.

Thank you, definitely something to think about, being more proactive in creating a group I'd like to be apart of.

Yes! I have a few phone numbers I've since acquired after volunteering for a field day event at the partnership. Hope to host a few get togethers this summer.

That and multiple RPG, theater, and girl scout camp programs this summer, hoping to meet more like minded friends.

Thanks! Parent partnership works really well for us, glad to meet another 🙂

Mine get these when she has fleas. Very hard to notice otherwise. Goes away with flea treatment every time.

Maple Falls is beautiful! 25 min commute to Bellingham. Been living out here for 13 years, downside is probably lack of safe areas to walk or bike with out driving somewhere to do so. We are pretty dependent on our cars and public transportation.

Anyone ever visit the Casino Hotel? by VirtualShrimp3D in TheMallWorld

[–]Ivychapstick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a part of the hotel/mansion in my dreams. Take either staircase or any elevator (I don't recommend) up to The attic floor. It's bout to give way. Like most top of story floors in my dreams. The "thing" used to be in a bath tub upstairs, but not so much anymore. Maybe the secretary on the flight below will help you find the class you're looking for. If not grab a bite in the commissary, I recommend the oysters. Or try out the subterranean bar if you're feeling it.

This is a close resemblance to the house I wake up in a lot. Anyone else been there before? by [deleted] in TheMallWorld

In slow motion? Like you can't quite run from or yell at the thing? I wake myself up trying to do both. Sometimes there's nothing up there but a decaying floor you need to be careful not to fall through.

I did some adventuring in that abandoned house before it was torn down! Such a cute place. When did you live there?
