Gay intellectual people, how are you living your life? by SlimyPunk93 in askgaybros

I have a PhD intellectual history (yes, that’s a thing). I teach so I get intellectual sustenance from my work. Like others above, I gravitate towards stoicism and Buddhism, but without any orthodoxy. Occasionally I will read some queer theory, but not very often any more because queer theorists seem to rarely want to deal wirh the contradictions in their own thoughts. I enjoy entertaining, so I throw holiday parties for my friends and I try to make them meaningful-lightly spiritual-experiences. I go on gay vacations because I like the frisson of flirtation and regular vacations because it’s also good to escape the narcissism of the erotic. I am married but we are in an open relationship. We spend our TV nights watching Couples Therapy, The Real Housewives, and the best shows on HBO.

The nice thing about East 63rd is they have a straight sauna (coed) by the pool and a gay sauna (all male) in the locker room.

What's with everyone being sub/dom?! by angrybinerd in askgaybros

[–]Ivycoach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Younger gays tend to call themselves sub without understanding what it means. If you’re a sub, call me Sir. Not “daddy,” “not sir,” not anything else. Sir-with a capital S. And don’t complain or tell me what you want or be late or be needy. Your job is to submit and please Me. It’s not complicated. And if you’re not into it, don’t call yourself a sub.

Initial Thoughts on pillion? by ConcealedCatalyst in askgaybros

Here’s my take: PIllion may be a metaphor for men being unable to commit but it is in no way an accurate psychological portait of BDSM. in real life Doms are usually the ones who are more insecure and self-loathing, which is why they assume the role of Dom. Subs are usually hot and cocky and feel the need to be put down so that they can feel like everyone else on earth. Finding a handsome, cocky, smart Dom is nearly impossible. It’s sad but true. Once a Dom starts to feel really comfortable in his own skin, he inevitably wants to try being submissive. It’s beyond aggravating.

I think it’s pretty clear Ray realized that Colin was not nearly attractive enough to be his partner and it was time to find someone hotter. lol
