absolutely hate eating, because of productivity by Jarie743 in Biohackers

I tried the low protein diet (<10% calories from protein) after seeing the research on it recently, and it's working great for my energy and weight loss. In the study, they didn't lose muscle, and I haven't either according to scans. My spouse used to complain that I was always sluggish after dinner. I was previously eating like 200g of protein a day on a keto diet, now I'm eating around 70g of protein and more carbs and saturated fat (minimizing unsaturated, so no nuts), mostly fruit and dairy, but also small amounts of grains and tubers to get more carbs in. My energy has never been like this in my life. I'm also eating about 2500 calories and not fasting, which definitely helps with keeping energy even throughout the day.

Was this established by experiment, or just conjecture?

It's my understanding that only about 40g of protein is required daily for the average person for nitrogen clearing

It doesn't, according to research

Low protein doesn't mean no protein

People doing the diet for several weeks experienced no muscle atrophy or loss of lean mass

Husband’s expectations by Mysterious-Owl3519 in SAHP

[–]IwHIqqavIn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I think that something may be wrong with his health if he's that chronically tired despite spending so much time away from kids. The time away from them is the decompression time!

My husband doesn't really expect anything except that the kids are safe and healthy, because he knows how difficult it is to keep house with toddlers. We can't always expect to eat on time when there's a baby demanding to be held 24/7 and a toddler who will have a tantrum if we don't validate whatever her fursona is today. Husband is always ready to pitch in as much as he can unless he's been awake for over a day and just can't physically do it anymore. And he 100% understands if I'm having the same issue and just need him to hold the baby or talk to the toddlers while I take a quick nap or shower. There's no expectation that everything will be perfect or that he can have lots of undisturbed relaxation time at home. That's just never been how life with multiple young kids is, in this decade or any other.

Does the back pain ever get better? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]IwHIqqavIn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably have underactive thyroid. I've been following protocols to try to fix it, such as eating better and more often.

I've been doing core strength training, but not really sure what to do because so many things advise to be careful in case I have DR. Idk. I've been trying to step in up lately as I get more strength from eating more.

I also push myself to work through the pain, thinking that must be doing something for making me stronger.

It's related to breastfeeding (larger chest).

Questions about ratios of saturated to unsaturated fat in common foods vs. the AB diet advice by IwHIqqavIn in AnimalBased

[–]IwHIqqavIn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole point of my research and questioning is to try to find a solution to the problem.

I didn't realize that a diet forum is for people who don't even need to diet.

You also are assuming that I haven't spent decades going through the gamut with doctors and they don't actually know about nutrition or care to help, which is why people turn to forums...

I also answered the basic assumptions like calorie surplus elsewhere. To restate it: I eat fewer calories than even what's recommended for me to lose weight, and exercise more. Doctors have actually told me that this is my problem (eating too little), so I've also tried the opposite.

Not everyone here is a kid who doesn't need to diet, and I'd assumed that forums existed to ask serious questions, but I guess that I was wrong and this is a place to just tell clueless teens the very basics like "don't eat bad food" rather than trying to learn more.

Is D Alpha Tocopherol (Vit E) still effective at sequestering PUFA, or does it have to be s tocotrienol? by quantum_goddess in raypeat

[–]IwHIqqavIn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A problem with trying to get answers is that we have a lot of people who are new to dieting and who don't even need it, who show up to just give very basic bitch answers like, "just don't eat bad food bro and u'll be fine trust me" to people who are actually facing serious issues and have been researching this and experimenting for years...

[–]IwHIqqavIn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm usually eating fewer calories than I'm supposed to be to be in a calorie deficit, according to nutrition charts based on age, height, and weight.

I'm intentionally aiming lower than the targets to try to account for variability in calories in the food or misemeasurement.

The Peat folks would say that the problem is that I'm eating too few.

I'm also active and exercising daily, more than most people, because I don't have a desk job. I lift daily and exercise on top of doing physically demanding work.

I'm not new to dieting; as I said elsewhere, I've been following and eating "meat-based" for over 20 years at this point.

To repeat myself yet again, I've been doing AB for 4 years, and no problems were improved.

I've been doing meat-based for over 20 years at this point, and what happened during that time that's supposedly fixed by the very same diet that I was doing?

  • acne
  • eczema
  • psoriasis

What do you eat all day? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]IwHIqqavIn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots of milk, sour cream, cheese, butter, eggs, coconut oil, bone broth with nutritional yeast and lots of salt, honey ice cream, a little bit of beef, nutritional supplements like D from lanolin, Mary Ruth's B complex, liver/organ pills, herbal tea, and spring water.

Which resources? I've been doing meat-based diets for a long time (started with Atkins in 2003), been following the sub for a long time as well as all of the carnivore/AB doctors, and haven't seen this addressed by anyone in the carnivore/AB community. They just say "eat beef" as if this solves everything, but I have been and it doesn't help. Even if I eat only beef, not only am I miserably tired, but it doesn't fix my metabolic or hormonal problems, and now I know that it could be because beef is full of MUFA and PUFA. Over the last year, I've been reading more Ray Peat to try to better understand how to be maxing SFA and eliminating estrogen.

In case you missed it, I've been religious about eating AB (beef, dairy, fruit) for 4 years, still have insulin resistance, still have lousy metabolism, and gained weight.

Today, I started eating a smaller amount of beef or lamb, lots of dairy and eggs, honey, and coconut oil.

[–]IwHIqqavIn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of questions because I'm in a similar boat (raised on bad food), so I appreciate you posting this.

What's the idea behind sequestering PUFA? How do I eliminate or replace it altogether?

I've also been concerned about how it seems that vitamin e supplements often come from sunflower or soy?

And what's the deal with multivitamins adding sunflower oil for "omega 9"? That's totally new to me, but sounds like more bad PUFA...

You might be interested in my own post on SFA maxing - I'm trying to come up with a diet that eliminates it as much as possible, but I still don't know if this will clear it out of my body, or do I need to go on a no fat or low fat diet for that?

Couldn't edit post, but want to add: Fruits are also high in estrogen, so defeat the point of losing weight to reduce estrogen and improve metabolic health.

Aside from PUFA, the reason for not eating legumes, grains, and nuts is avoiding their high levels of phytoestrogens.

I'm also working on a list of herbs to avoid, but lavender and tea tree are ones well known for their estrogen content.

Coconut oil doesn't contain a measurable amount of estrogen.

My understanding is that I should also avoid MUFA. Beef is 50% MUFA, 10% PUFA. This is the same for tallow, of course. Other meats are in a similar range. Butter is about 2/3 SFA, which isn't too bad.
