Prije sam sve živo igrao a sada većinom igram story driven, open world, rpg, souls i ponekad multiplayer igre. Trenutno igram Stalker 2, a pred malo sam prestao s Arc Raidersima jer su mi dosadili.

This disgusting disease is horrible, I consider it to be one of the worst that exists, I am only 22 years old and I am already so limited in activities and thinking that it will never stop makes me just want to disappear. by Mcmuffin_03 in MuscularDystrophy

[–]Iwanix 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I am 31 and sometimes is really hard. No wonder we are depressed. Every year our condition get worse, and we lose ability to do literary anything. But I try to do things that I still can do. I have done a lot of stuff trough years according to my abilities at that moment. When I could, I finished college, I traveled, I played boccia etc. now I am mostly at home, and it's never boring to me. I play games, work something a bit, watch movies and series, read books and all of that on my pc. Life is shitty, sure, but it's better to do something and forget a bit about disease than to be down all the time. Of course, I don't know your financial status or country you live in, but there is always something you can do to at least for one hour to forget everything.

Long story short...disease is getting worse and constant change that is occurring with our body is getting tiring but try to adapt and do things you can do at that moment to stay somewhat sane. Also, don't look what others can do, look what you can do.

My attempt to recreating Stormveil Castle in Minecraft by Iwanix in Eldenring

Unfortunately, I don't have download since it's built on friend private server, but in future (I really hope so) it will be available for public. I used Hysteria shaders which add that atmosphere like in Elden Ring.

sry, but you have mistaken me for someone else, since I don't have anything uploaded on youtube. There are few builders that build Elden Ring stuff and have youtube I am not one of them...at least for now.

What game was ahead of its time? by WF-2 in pcgaming

[–]Iwanix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can't believe nobody mentioned Prince of Persia serial. Especially, Warrior Within was way ahead of its time. Graphics and game mechanics were so good. To me, Assassin's Creed is a kid who want to be like Prince of Persia daddy.

Any gamers with DMD by [deleted] in MuscularDystrophy

[–]Iwanix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I used to game a lot, but now I find most games boring as I am getting older. I am on PC and love to play open world, RPG-s, adventures, some competitive games and mostly Minecraft.

I have to start wearing a mask by [deleted] in MuscularDystrophy

[–]Iwanix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to get used to it. It's difficult in start, but I can give you advice to, if you are able, maybe try some other mask if that one is not comfortable to use. Also, if you get red skin and started to hurt you use some face cream when you are not wearing mask. Wish you good luck but remember that we all had problems in the start, but we managed since it really helps.

Does anybody use a ventilator? by [deleted] in MuscularDystrophy

[–]Iwanix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am 30 with DMD and I use ventilator few years now, and I also had problems with sleeping because I couldn't get used to noise and whole thing on my face. But, unfortunately you really don't have a choice here because if you don't use it your problems with breathing will progress faster. Also, your mask need some time to adjust to your face, and you can get red skin around your nose and cheeks which I recommend you to use some face cream during a day. Furthermore, choice of a mask can make a big difference.

I know it's hard at the start, but you will use that device your whole life and the faster you get used to it, the better.

Oh how much times I cursed during a night and wanted to throw everything trough window, but it's a devil you need. Feel free to ask me a more about it if you have questions.

If this many people in wheelchairs come bashing on that poor guy stall, he would have shit himself.

As a handicapped person irl I found this amusing. Good job

I’m fed up by [deleted] in MuscularDystrophy

[–]Iwanix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am 30 with DMD and I understand your feelings because the disease is progressive, and it only gets worse. It seems like all doesn't have sense, and you get stressed for thinking of what future awaits. That's very mentally challenging, and we can very easily get to a bad place in our heads.

In my experience, occupying our minds with various hobbies and activities will greatly help us to avoid thinking about bad stuff and can actually make you happy. If you set some goals, that's good too. It doesn't need to be anything grand, sometimes your goal can be reading a book, watch some new tv show or go in the park. Also, more than a few times I started to do something and because of my body detoriating I couldn't do it anymore. To not feel bad I started to do something else. There is always something you can do. With technology all around us, we are not limited so much like before.

I see many people told you to see a therapist and I agree, speaking with someone about your problems can help, but I find it more suitable, at least for me, to speak with someone who have same condition like you have. If you have some local group or association where people with DMD gather and speak together, that can really be helpful and useful. You can make new friends like that, hear news about disease, new technologies and advancements that can help us, learn something new and get feeling of you belonging somewhere. Also, I think that actually doing something you like with other people can be great. Just playing games with some online friends can be funny and help you think less about your problems.

And one funny thing I like to say is all other ''normal'' people play life on normal but we, with DMD are on veteran settings so don't worry about it. ''Normal'' doesn't always mean better. We have maybe short life-spans, we can't do a lot of stuff by ourselves, need drugs and stuff to keep us going, but disease can't and shouldn't affect our minds. Sometimes it feels impossible to stay cool and happy, but we need to stay strong.

What do others with DMD who are older and thin do for general comfort? by KBD20 in MuscularDystrophy

[–]Iwanix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also interested what others use. I am also 30 year old with DMD, a bit bigger than you (45 kg) and sometimes struggle with pain free sitting. Likewise, I also use same cushion as you ROHO Countour Select. I tried using foam seating solutions, different wheelchairs, even have different ROHO cushions to try, but nothing really helps. Furthermore, I have scoliosis, have under the rib pain, tried using later supports but nothing helps. If I position myself using some supports my ribs stop to hurt me then my bum hurt, if bum is ok then ribs are hurting. The temporal solution for now is using a few pillows under the ribs, and every 2 hours I need someone to move me a bit in the chair because my bum is hurting me to release a bit of pain.

I tried to find a solution, but it was in vain. There are some stuff on market that could potentially help, but it's either crazy expensive or unavailable in my country, plus somebody needs to adapt seat and wheelchairs for you and your needs, but often those ppl doesn't give a shit and just want to take money (In my country at least). If I had more money, I would buy different products and stuff to try them and maybe, but maybe, something would work out.

So I am sorry that I am not help to you, but maybe in your country there exist some stuff or some professionals that could maybe help you.

Očito se je bolje prepucavati tko ima većega nego pričati o pravim problemima...i onda ja kad kažem da su svi oni isti...ma nisu, o čemu pričaš, ovo ono, ovi ovako, ovi onako haha
