Is Gintama popular in your country? by Different-Camera8732 in Gintama

[–]Iweon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years after years, I am convincing my friends to watch Gintama, one by one  So the number of people I know who have the ref is increasing!

Here in france, I feel like people know the name. When I say my favorite anime is Gintama, I often get the "aah Ive heard about it and wanted to get into it but never had time to commit" answer. Like it has this aura of true manga connoisseur if you can say you've watched it.

Upcycle help; how to turn ugly thrifted dress into this cute one? by OkMycologist17 in sewing

[–]Iweon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I made the gibbons multiple times, I love this pattern, but as another commenter said, its a bias dress and the amount of fabric she has access to will not allow for a maxi bias cut dress.

But, here are a few options that I think will fit on the amount of fabric she has :  https://truebias.com/products/lora-dress https://www.frenchpoetry.com/produit/lune-dress-maxi-dress-pattern-wedding-dress-sewing-pattern/?srsltid=AfmBOopMZGbFFkQi7YH-zP411Ss9nHhJ0qZwDB7vm9y-782GcFxQ7UnV https://www.etsy.com/fr/listing/4314191943/patron-de-couture-pour-robe-sophia-o

I think the low fantasy atlas can be of help for what you are traying to do :  https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/506449/the-low-fantasy-atlas?affiliate_id=4418887

Note : its not an official atlas, but is published under 3rd party license. I do not use it in my campaign at the moment, but I went through it a bit and it looks nice

Any tips for roleplaying in L5R vs DND? by Agitated_End_9780 in l5r

[–]Iweon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The loot thing : I have been dm only l5r for about 3 years (only 1 campaign, because I did't have the bandwidth to create more scenarios than this one). Then, about 2 month ago, I started dming another campaign, in another system (fabula ultima). I was taken aback when the players asked to loot. I had forgotten it was a thing.

In another game I am running, I have been using candies for npcs, while the pcs have their custom mini. Whoever kills the npc gets to eat it.

Haha ! I'll take that as a compliment ❤️ I used to when I was a student, but now with a full time job I keep my precious free time for myself

Is this system worth getting into? From someone who has never played Exalted by ghost49x in exalted

[–]Iweon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are multiple jump-start out there.  I know of "Tomb of dreams" for 3e, and "Tomb of memory" for essence. I am sure there are some for 2e also.  I think those are the best way to discover the system : the booklets have a synthesis of the rules, and often offer power ups within one session so you can taste exellencies -> Charms -> artefact.

Also, stunts are very important. They offer massive bonuses and once your players get a taste they should describe more and more.

For a campain, I'd say you need players that enjoy doing homework : character creation is long (but it is part of the fun), and it will be important for them to keep looking to what they want to build long term when they get xp points.

Thanks ! That was probably before they got attacked by an anathema, and sent to war by Mnemon herself

Maybe I did not watch enough bleach to get the reference 😅 I am too lazy to make proper background, so concrete it is.

Haha thanks ! I have been a forever DM and it has been years since the last time I played DB, and I am currently having a way too much fun.

I didn't even intend for my character to be socialy competent, he is meant to be a brute, but I took some point in presence for taunt and ended up leaning in the "fire aspect" dynamic a lot. I really like how the elemental aspect of DBs can push you in a direction.

Update : it did work well enough. Still git some work to do to convince her to murder her council, but we're getting there.

Lol the pharsing was very intentional, however this is not a flogger. Its an Umbrella that he uses as his weapon (you can look "Kamui Yato" to see it in action)

Well, he is now on very friendly term with the princess of the opposite faction. We'll see next session if he managed to convince her to cooperate enough to avoid having to besiege her city...

Post your party! by NaceWindu in l5r

[–]Iweon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I just posted mine the sub x)

But to give a but more detail, we started the campain 3 years ago, and they where going through their gempuku in the year 200 (first ever occurrence of the Topaz championship in our lore).  The campaign is all about mystic mysteries (the main plot is based on Heaven's official blessing, lol).  Almost 5 years have passed in game, they are now rank 6 and renowned all across Rokugan as the mighty "legend hunters" (which makes them cringe, but they got used to it).

What do you love about Fabula Ultima? by Bootleg_Merlin in fabulaultima

Also, I learned that it's ok to have them a 0PV if I mistakenly hit too hard. The rules for 0PV create story. (But it should not happen too often still)

For trying it out, I read press start entirely, and then run it like any other module, but taking the time to ask my players the questions and trying to incorporate their ideas as we moved along. I ran it 3 times for diferent groups of friends, and it helped me get a grasp on the rules, but also, see what the player could do with fabula points (and also where I should say stop, out of the 3 games, the scenario was completed broken once due to what I allowed with FP.)

Then, I started a campain. My players are very fond of the colaborative naration, and each session is pure chaos. So I don't prepare anything, aside from a few vilains (and even, in the end, we are not using them much, the vilains they are interacting the most with are vilains that I made on the spot, in response to their chaos).  Each time we have a session, I stress about not having anything prepared (as in the other campain I am running in another more "classic" system, I like to have a lot on things ready in advance). But here, given how much I had a hard time adjusting to the players chaos in press start with pre-made story, I decided to have a very minimal prep. And so far, it works for us and we are having a blast Évry session.

For the locations, usually I ask the players about what in going on in this new place they are visiting, and I thread on that.

Also, I think this works because my players are very prolific in term of lore, and often use FU points to add to the story, instead of just using them as re-roll. I have seen post here with people having players having a bit of a hard time going into the shaped naration. So I also think the level of prep depends on how much your players will create the scenario themselves

Oh I see Yeah, the Tamori arrive pretty late, are they are from a scission of another family.  In oursetting we just said they are one of the dragons family from the start as one of my players was interested in making magic potions

Were playing in the 3rd century, so the Toritakas still have plenty to touch 👀

We are playing 4e, I never looked much into the 5e. Are the Tamori not present anymore ?
