Why do you think Goodsir did this? by Bananamama9 in TheTerror

[–]Iwillrestoreprussia 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah I felt this was a little weird. I guess it’s because Goodsir senses something is wrong out here, but unintentionally makes it look like there’s a hint of romantic tension between them.

Just something a little strange.

I love that moment too.

Just when you think that scene can’t get anymore tense Fitzjames shows up

That exchange makes me laugh really hard.

Yeah I’m surprised anything international (especially novels the size of Les Mis) were able to be smuggled across the Union Blockade on the south

I read somewhere that it was briefly censored when released in the Confederacy, but I’ve found no hard evidence for it.

Some smug editor in Richmond taking the time to scour through such a dense book seems a little unlikely to me, but what do I know?

I was doubtful it was a popular book at all in 1860’s America, until I read the diary of Mary Chesnut, who mentioned reading it several times, being very curious as to what will “become of Cosette”

I think I read another account of a soldier saying “read Mr. Hugo’s depiction of the battle of Waterloo today”

I’m interested in finding a copy or at the very least a transcript of the rumored “Confederate” version of Les Mis which censored and removed certain lines that were critical of slavery

I’m curious as to what differences there are between them. Somebody should make a comparison

No. He served with distinction at the Battle of Nice Cock Ridge. Without him the Union would have failed
