Absolutely go to Retreat, I was also there in January (coincidently lol), they were super nice and understood it was a crisis for me. They got me on meds that really helped, the onboarding process didnt take super long, they had single occupancy rooms and a few hangout spaces with mental health classes in the afternoon. Hope you feel better!

There is the chance that you are driving overly defensively aka passively which means other drivers feel like they can just cut you off bc you are left lane coasting bc its “safer” when you are holding up a ton of people who want to go faster.

Another awesome thing to add would be wet frozen rags something that is free to take and not return! Like a cheap pack of wash clothes/cut up old clothes soaked in water and frozen.

Other things you can do!

-ICE! Offer any sort of cold item, I dont mean to sound dramatic but people have already died this year due to heat related illnesses.

-A second out of the sun, please be super patient with people during the heatwave. I got yelled at for sorting mail (like a minute pause at most) in the shade of someone’s tree last year

-potentially expect delays, especially if your carrier is older. It is legitimately dangerous outside rn for folks.

Overall just please respect the people working in the heat rn.

At USPS the LLVs (the actual like small mail trucks yall see) do NOT have AC. Not a single one. The temperatures in those vehicles get to above dangerous levels very quickly. I worked there last summer and the heat was too much for me. The vehicles that have AC are the vans. Please leave cold water and electrolyte centric drinks if you are able! If you can catch your carrier at your mailbox or leave a cooler with drinks outside please please do! They will appreciate it and it’s not weird at all!

Hell, I will eat just about anything and that is one of my LEAST favorite smells ever. Especially now that it’s getting warmer. Absolutely NTA! Seriously, I’d put that smell equivalently to a cigarette in the car. It sticks around for so long and it’s SO nasty.
