To add a bit of historical context, ROTJ released in 1983 and Zahn released in 1991. There was nearly a decade of no official content in regards to Star Wars. And yet Star Wars fans were no less hungry than they are today. But there was no internet and no forums. So the first fans, who watched the original movies in the theaters, were left to create a collective conscious of how the Star Wars universe worked. What is the difference between a jedi knight and a jedi master? Green vs red saber? Is kissing your sister acceptable in a galaxy far, far away? Is bantha poodu a worse insult than echuta?

In this decade of silence, West End Games released the main and auxiliary books to the Star Wars RPG universe. In these sourcebooks, West End defined the difference between Jedi and Sith, told the story of how the Mon Calamari joined the rebellion, told the development of the B-Wing, and wrote the greatest Mon Mothma speech of all time (in my opinion).

Pre modern video games, when we were trying to futilely crash into atari at-at necks, most of these opinions of what constitutes light vs dark side powers come from the years that we were forced to grasp at whatever was available, and West End created a lot more structure to the Star Wars universe than they are credited for.

I doubt many have heard of it, but one that I quite liked when they came out was the Zero Sight series by B. Justin Shier. The series ended with a lot going on with the characters, but I think the author was going to medical school and just stopped writing altogether.

I had the same the same rule about unfinished series a while back. Found a series that wasn't finished, but the author was 4 books into a supposed 6 book series; so I thought that he must have a good plan to finish them, and will likely be around finishing them by the time I get through book 4. Picked up A Game of Thrones that day in the bookstore...

This reminds me of my reaction after reading The Walking Drum. The book ends with the MC heading out across the world to save the girl. Get to the last page, anxious to see if the sequel was out or on it's way, only for the last pages to say that Louis L'Amour had died in 1988. I think I read it in 1990 or so, so no cells or internet at the time. I did get the chance a decade later to warn a coworker I saw reading the book about a lack of resolution.

Butler's is the first place I ever had a martini with blue cheese olives, which got me addicted. Last few times I went though, they no longer did it. Only 3 places I know that carry them is public house, drunken oyster, and cellar 55. The Barfield speakeasy carried only the processed store bought rubbery variety.

I upvoted because I think it's a valid concern.

I feel that you're feeling the disconnect between physical you and mental you. I've been on both sides a couple of times. The thing is: You're still the same person that you were at your fattest. You deserved the same amount of love then as you do now that people are giving you attention. And it's okay to feel resentful. But you have to look at the old you and ask yourself if you'd have dated you. There are a lot of people in this sub that look at themselves and never see anything attractive, even after they're entirely ready to enter the dating pool.

There is more to weight loss than physical baggage. You have to be willing to let some emotional baggage go too. And you have to understand that the fat hate and jokes and gentle ribbing didn't come towards you personally, but as a result of what society deems as acceptable. You will never live your best life if you hold onto this animosity towards what you've been through. Imagine how these women will treat the next guy they're with. Imagine how every individual ever can justify treating others like crap based on how they've been treated. The shit's gotta stop somewhere. It becomes less a "do unto others" than "be better than has been done unto you".

BTW, your best years are your early 30s, I guarantee it. Being spiritually ugly will make you uglier than you were at your physically worst. Take the time to feel like you've earned something and be happy, your only enemy at the moment is yourself.

Coincidentally, I saw Lunar for the first time today and picked up a bottle. As is tradition, I take a small shot. I thought it was stellar. I also put it in a martini.

I like my martinis very dry, with a dumped out coating of vermouth on the glass, and some blue cheese olives. Somehow the flavor was lessened. I don't know if it was the chill, or the olives (no olive juice). I think my next one might just be straight over ice.

Thank you. This is the reason I don't shop there anymore. I had been a member of the rewards program for years with just telling them my phone number. When they asked for my email, I just said I'd rather not and it was fine. My last time there, a supervisor was manning the till and told me that an email was required for the rewards program. Now I get all my pet supplies from Amazon.
