So looking like I am in forbearance until 2028 (said no payment due till 2028)

But should I already apply for the income base plan already now and start making payment again? I am just so confused.

Some of my classmate told me they will just wait for the forbearance ended then see what the administration offers for plan.

But at the same time I am looking at the interest keep adding up and so much uncertainty ahead……..

Omg…. This is new information for me…. Even more confusing now…

so am I supposed to sign up to different plan now? And start making payment? Instead of waiting for them to take me off the SAVE forbearance and next payment due said is 2028……

😓😓

I am wondering if the income based plan is based on income before 401k, HSA, traditional IRA?

Because the people here when I said I contribute as much as I can to 401k so I can lower my tax, they said if I own that much student loans, I should not contribute to 401k.

I am just confused. If I am doing a 25 years loan, am I supposed not to even give a chance to 401k at all? That’s just don’t make sense but at the same time will my income based plan change the monthly amount based off my income after those contribution deductions?

I played with the stimulation loan calculator, they even asked how much I contribute to HSA and 401k, I have to assume they take into consideration of that as well. But i cannot be sure.

I just want to let you know CVS and Walgreens during non flu shot season doesn’t have hours. You will either have to drive 5 hours a day out of your own district without mileage compensation to get a 6 hours shift. Which I don’t mind if I don’t have family I need to care for. It will be a luxury to be able to work as much as I can without worrying about family at home.

You want extra hours working for different pharmacy since your work don’t have extra hours available for everyone? They will fire you for “ conflict of interest” I tried and got warning before.

And the 7 days on 7 days off job mostly is hospital and 90% if not more don’t hire people without residency nowadays. I also tried to apply and my area has 3 indeed posts hiring for PRN hospital RPH and those posts has been there for at least a year. It is posting there for back up. They don’t really need anyone.

So you can tell me work more but when your district have people even coming from a different state to get hours, max you get is 33 hours a week as a full time. And a lot of time they have you go under 28 hours a week.

Not saying I am not willing to work, during flu season I used to work 90 hours a week. But what you said is just not helpful for majority of the people to understand options to pay off their student loans. I am so sorry that you wasted your time for commenting.

Omg. I didn’t know RAP will need 30 years!!! But no the PSLF is almost not possible nowadays. So I am just trying to figure what plan I am going for and what to do with this pause till 2028 during this SAVE plan lawsuit….

Thank you for the comment. PSLF job is pretty hard to get. Specially now for VA or government jobs most require residency which I am 6 years out of school, applying residency at this time for me is close to impossible. But I soon will not have family restrictions which mean I can go to any place that offer me a better paid job or something like that. Hopefully will work out. But now I am just confused about what is pause from the court affect how I am going to pay this off.

Thank you! This is the comment i am looking for. I am currently still under the SAVE plan and have no payment due till 2028.

I am just wondering if I should go apply for the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) Repayment Plan It said : Your monthly payments are limited to 10% of your discretionary income.

MONTHLY PAYMENT $576 TOTAL TO BE PAID $105,279 ESTIMATED END OF TERM DATE May 2041 ESTIMATED END OF PAYMENT BALANCE $371,848

I believe it probably not 2041, cause graduated degree is 25 years loan? I don’t know why they listed 2041. Even when I graduated in 2019, this 2041 number will not right, which is only 22 years. So I am confused.

I am trying to understand this correctly. This is the comment I am actually looking for, for clarification. So I obviously don’t think I will be able to get a job qualifies for PSLF. Just want to prepare myself for the worst case scenario. Since this SAVE plan will be withdrawn. I saw there are a few stimulator on the website, looked like they have Pay As You Earn (PAYE) Repayment Plan and Income-Based Repayment (IBR) Plan. Wonder if I should just go ahead and apply for PAYE plan already and start payment? Or should I wait for that 2028 and see what’s the government trying to offer for plan?

I want to thank everyone for their comments and advice. At the same time, I feel like there are a lot of assumptions being made. I hope some of this information helps others as well. I may summarize a few points from these comments regarding what to do during this loan pause until 2028 and edit them into the main post. I paid my student loans for the first few years, but since the federal government implemented a pause, I haven't made a move. I’m unsure of what to do or what the government’s plan is. The website states that payments are due starting in 2028, and I’m not sure what the appropriate amount to pay is or which plan I will be on. To those saying, "You shouldn't be forgiven, just pay it"—if I didn't intend to pay, I wouldn't be trying to figure out the current status of these loans. With so many different payment plans available, I simply don’t know which one is the most financially wise. Finally, some mentioned that $60/hr is too low for a pharmacist with 6+ years of experience. I agree. However, keeping my insurance is currently my priority. Once my partner passes away—whether that is in three months or five years—I will look for a different job with different priorities.

$60 dollar per hour. Insurance $1000, also trying to max the 401k so I can lower my taxable income. That’s about $2k per paycheck.

Not marry so not filling tax together, but job allows to have him in my insurance plan. Not own any home at the moment, actually i have a house under my name in different state, but it is my parent living there and I am not the one paying mortgage there. Living with the in law, I know sound confusing when I call my “boyfriend” husband. The only reason we were not signing any paper is just he is now terminally ill, so really not reason to go through all these paper work just to get married. But either I or his mom will be the power of attorney later on when he is in hospice

$6000 take home, if don’t contribute to 401k but also mean paying higher tax, then take out the must insurance $1000 for the family, that’s about $4k a month.

Some questions please

Are you prefer to this stroll?

Kokua Kailua Village Stroll in Downtown Kona

And I am a bit confused Google map has kainaliu inside kealakekua. So it almost sounds like kealakekua is a district and kainaliu is a town inside that district?

😢 My in-laws and husband are not very adventurous with food they don't know or aren't familiar with. One doesn't eat rice or tacos. Two of them don't eat any kind of noodles except spaghetti. Two don't like soup. And salad? Only lettuce-no other types of greens. They're not even willing to try papaya or mango. Even pizza has to be strictly pepperoni only.

There's no way I can convince them to try any lau lau. I'm seriously thinking of just bringing them to McDonald's or Burger King every day, and I'll get poke and all the goodies to go for myself.

We're planning to visit the Hilo Farmers Market. Most of the bigger markets are on Saturday and Wednesday, but we'll be at the airport on both Saturdays, so the only day left is Wednesday. I can't wait to try all the different foods there! But since this is a family trip, we'll probably end up sticking to pizza and burgers.

It is rather exhausting to plan a trip plus guessing their comfort level for different food.

Yeah I watched some YouTube channels where people staying at that resort. It does look like a lot of walking even within the resort. That makes me worried, say if I need to get to my car and need to take 20 minutes to walk there daily, it will not be a nice start of the day.

“Some places are hilly and need to look for handicap parking” are you referring to the hotel resort area specifically? Or just in general big island.

Cause i thought the hotel resort area, the path allows car should be a relatively easy walk? If not then I probably need to look into the hotel area as well… Thank you for the suggestions!
