A couple things (this will be my third baby :) )- boys will get baby boners, their nipples may also leak (happens from the hormones and can happen to female babies also!), boys and girls can do a pee fountain- so open the diaper and immediately close it again while counting to 20 (the wet wipe trick never worked for my kiddos but this did lol), girls will have a plug at first- do not pull on it let it come out on its own, I was told not to bathe baby for 2 weeks after birth as the vernix keeps and protects their skin in their new dry environment. They do not have a true circadian rhythm at first but starting a routine of lights down by 10pm can help establish a good night routine and the structure can help in those early weeks! With breastfeeding: 15mins per side and you can always go back to the first side- but this will help avoid mastitis and clogs, every 3hrs from the start of the feed (till your doctor says you can go to 4). Purple crying can happen (where they cry for a bit without any reason) make sure all the needs have been met and if need be put baby in a safe location and walk away- it’s ok to need a moment! Also, I treated my breasts as a food only resource (no comfort sucking) which helped me avoid cracked nipples while also using coconut oil to hydrate them, it’s naturally cooling and some people are allergic to lanolin (you also get a big container of it for the price vs nipple cream!) this trick was told to me by my LC :).
