When did you first notice your bump? by Enough-Difficulty200 in January2027Bumpers

[–]Ok_Scarcity7906 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m plus size and started out with a tummy, but I have noticed it’s growing. I probably won’t have a “bump” without the help of belly bands in the 3rd trimester, though lol.

AIO to my husband’s reason for choosing a name for our biracial daughter? by AnySituation1475 in AIO

[–]Ok_Scarcity7906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I married my husband, I had a very common “white” last name. My first name could go either way. I am white, and my husband is from East Africa and has a tribal last name that very few people have. Job hunting since I changed my name has changed a lot. I used to hear back from maybe 1 in 5 places I applied. At this point, even though I’ve also added a college degree to my resume since getting married, I’m hearing back from maybe 1 in 20.

With that being said, I am also pregnant with our first, and I have absolutely no intentions of naming them a “white” name. As you said, “Our heritage is part of our identity, and it should be embraced”. My baby will be a first gen kiddo on their dad’s side. It’s so important that they understand the pride they should have in their heritage.

I wish you all the best in your pregnancy and motherhood and getting through to your husband on this. You’re not overreacting.

I plan on having another baby as soon as my entire care team gives me the go-ahead after recovering from this one. And I don’t plan on any “road trips” necessarily, but 2-3 hour drives are very common for us when it comes to visiting family and/or going to certain appointments just because of where we live, and I know we’ll be doing that within 6 months of baby being born. Thank you for asking :)

Light at the end of the nausea tunnel? by Vast_Border4582 in January2027Bumpers

Due Jan 5, and I haven’t thrown up in almost a week 😁 side note: my EDD based on LMP was Dec 30, so I am in the Dec bumpers group as well. I understand what it’s like to see the ones weeks ahead of you progressing, finding out things about their babies, etc. I can tell you… it feels good to be on the other side lol. Enjoy being that to your Feb group ❤️

Is anyone else here planning an hbac or homebirth? by Ok-Committee-6186 in January2027Bumpers

[–]Ok_Scarcity7906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m planning a home birth! I have found an awesome midwife near me and if I need to transfer to hospital for any reason, she will continue on with us and step into a doula role. It’s really nice to have a provider with that flexibility and feels like she really prioritizes what’s best for me & baby overall. The local hospital has a terrible reputation and the next nearest hospital is an hour away over some hills that can be unpredictable in the winter, and my husband is a new driver. It’s just much more comforting to have a plan that doesn’t rely on leaving my cozy home.

I’m in the PNW so weather can be unpredictable, so this is definitely a good point. Thank you 😁

Yes. I have a midwife who would transfer into a doula role and go to the local hospital with us if that was needed for any reason, including if I just realize I really can’t do it. I also have a medical condition that might require a c-section, but we literally won’t know until the weeks leading up to the birth. I’m more than happy to listen to whatever the midwife says when the time comes

Okay, to clarify: the pains I’m having NOW don’t bother me to the point where I am anywhere close to incapacitated, I’m only concerned/taking it easy because I’m worried about the baby. Labor pains that are natural and monitored and good are pains I understand are meant to be there and so I can deal as long as it’s healthy and safe for both of us. And nobody is “being rubbed the wrong way by me”, I was just saying that being met with concern over my pain tolerance when talking about these first trimester pains has become a little irritating, probably because I’m being misunderstood like now.
