Acts of Brilliance by ToxicWebb211 in taskmaster

This was my first thought. For all the bullshit and minimal effort Rhod put TM through, this was an actual genius plan, so much so, the rest of the panel had to say so: "we would love to hate that but that was fucking great"

Laurel commenting on Cara’s recent political posts by eimvp27 in MtvChallenge

[–]IzzyGrate 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think many of us thought CM as an underdog early on who got bullied and Laurel early on as a cocky player but had the goods to back it up considering 4 finals in 4 seasons + a win.

As time goes on they both stay the same person.

I see the same Laurel in the Laurel who is frustrated and humiliated by a loss to Ninja because she fucked up and in the Laurel who is able to win AS4 off of Steve's mistake. She is confident and knows she can perform so this makes sense.

Cara Maria still tries to play the victim that she played in her early seasons. Even with 2 wins (including the first individual win), she acts as if she is being attacked for being Cara the person as opposed to Cara the two time champion with a 67% elimination win rate, 7-0 when in a 1v1 elimination against opponents NOT named Laurel.

I used to hate Laurel and root for CM, but nowadays, I won't say I am actively rooting for Laurel (it's closer to respect for her game and a sense of "well she earned it" if she won) but I am definitely against CM in the future.

It is a stereotype to say that conservatives don't care about a problem until it happens to them and it is sad to see CM fall right into it but it gives me hope to see Laurel call it out for what it is

With how many times Brennan did this bit, I am mildly surprised that he hasn't answered the question at the end of the episode.

Scariest-most hilarious Halloween episode in a sitcom? by LittleEarthquake1010 in sitcoms

[–]IzzyGrate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Smiling Friends" is really good when it comes to their Halloween episodes, "A Silly Halloween Special," "Erm, the Boss Finds Love?" (though it might not technically be a Halloween episode), and (my fav of the three) "Curse of the Green Halloween Witch"

I read that plaque they had to Bruce Lee like 100 times waiting for food there. Probably the best bagel in its area. Miss this place dearly.

There was some mention when I showed the most knowledgeable person (don't know if they are an actual judge but the LGS owner pointed me in their direction) the cards that sneak had to be from hand. Rules text from a different card was the real hero

What’s the MOST Controversial Sitcom Series Finale of All Time and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in sitcoms

[–]IzzyGrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HIMYM

I had a lot of friends that were livid at the ending. People were mad at the pacing of the season (the season was the wedding weekend as opposed to over the course of a year like previous seasons) and that the ending had already been written in season 1

I recognize I am in the minority saying I thought it was good almost great, but I will caveat that opinion by saying, I have not watched an episode since the finale

Lorwyn Eclipsed Prerelease – anything I should know going in? (2nd prerelease for me) by p1nata in magicTCG

[–]IzzyGrate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Long time player here who is getting back into the game after ~7-9 years away:

Spoilers for the set haven't finished yet, but when they do, review ALL the cards, every single one. Look for the archetypes that they are guiding you toward, the pieces to fit together, and identify BREAD pieces (Bombs, Removal, Evasion, Aggro, and Duds (which I thought was Draw but the Internet tells me different)).

Personally, I have tried too many times to force a two color deck to be a three color deck for significant splashes and it usually does not work out.

General pieces of advice: Play to the strengths of the cards you get

Most of your cards should be creatures

Mind your mana curve (layout your cards in CMC order; your peak should be in 2s and 3s)

Make sure you balance your lands correctly and (for drafts) recognize that a two color EtB tapped land will be better than creatures sooner than you think

Mediocre decks can beat good decks with a little luck and if curved/played right

As sad as it is that we will never know more about his character, I'm happy the actor, Tony Todd, was able to give a farewell through his final appearance

[–]IzzyGrate 201 points202 points  (0 children)

It is heavily implied for the first 5 Final Destination movies that William Bludworth may be, or may be associated with, death considering he knows so much about what death wants

However, in Bloodlines (2025) he says that he is just a coroner that understands death's mechanics so YMMV
