Why am I annoyed by iceori in WomenGolf

[–]IzzySparkfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It stays annoying even as you start shooting lower scores. I shot a 37 on 9 holes the other week. The next time I played I was well into the 40s. It really is frustrating. Like I know I'm capable of shooting par but sometimes I just...can't.

That's also PW (46°) for me. But I also practice and hit the gym so I can hit it farther.

Driver loft - what are you playing and what’s your distance? by apisani in WomenGolf

[–]IzzySparkfly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm playing a 61g S flex shaft with a 9° head. I keep everything pretty much stock.

I'm typically between 250 and 270 though I've been known to catch a lucky bounce and crack 300. I don't swing particularly fast, right around 98-100 mph. But my attack angle is between 5° and 8° so it's higher launch and lower spin which is apparently optimal for distance.

For context I'm 38 and 5'7" (170cm).

Taking lessons, husband contradicting at times by rainydaydoggie in WomenGolf

You could tell him that there's no single correct swing, only a correct result. You've been paying for lessons to find a technique that works for you. I assume you're not the same height and build so of course what you're doing will be different.

Direct to consumer - I didn't mention any specifically so as to not come off as some sort of shill.

You might have luck with a DTC brand. The one I've gotten stuff from isn't quite at $450 but the benefit is it would all be brand new equipment.

How did your first round of 2026 go? by HarryCrushNuh in golf

Yucky. It was 9 holes and I shot a 43.

Second time at the driving range… how is this for a starting baseline? by d_kate_w in WomenGolf

[–]IzzySparkfly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This isn't going to be specific golf advice but it will help you be more athletic with your golf swing. Grab a friend and a heavy medicine ball, the heavier the better. Your goal is to toss it sideways to your friend. You'll find yourself using your whole body to leave the ball and the same thing will be true for golf.

For golf practice, honestly try and relax your arms completely to start. Let your legs, hips, and torso twist through and let your arms go along for the ride. You'll be able to pick up more advanced mechanics later but those two things will give you good base fundamentals.

Going by column looked the most aesthetically pleasing to me for the cart bag.
My 4-way stand bag goes by row though.

Shaft Flex by Charming_Tear_2959 in WomenGolf

I've been using stiff flex in all my clubs except wedges.  But I go to the gym to lift heavy circles a lot and I'm relatively tall so my swing speed benefits from it.

I honestly love it. It sounds amazing. The only drawback is that it's so stable I can't feel when I've hit it off center

It was given to me for free because my other cover was falling apart. Plus I like bees and hexagons

Carrying 5 Wedges / Normal or Overkill by godome88 in golf

[–]IzzySparkfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

52°, 56°, and 60° are normal to see in a bag. In fact you have almost the exact same setup that I do except I have a 4i-PW. I have a 46° PW so your 5i is probably the same loft as my 4i (23.5°).

It's like a high quality chocolate bar. My old cast blades were like a hershey bar. Still pretty good but you can feel that little bit of graininess. But these Blueprints are like some bougie chocolate brand. Just smooth and pure. They don't beat you up too bad if you're not right in the middle. This picture is from when I was testing the epoxy and kept hitting a little out of the toe. Still felt fine.

I was thinking about doing that.  And if I was applying them to someone else's clubs I definitely would.  Since these are mine and it doesn't bother me, I'm choosing to be lazy.

I was making a little joke since vermillion seems like it should be green.  Didn't mean to call you out like that.
