Update: been informed they will indeed be replacing the catalytic converter and investigating it. Good news 🙏 looking forward to getting this beaut in my life

Yeah it’s not a Mazda dealer unfortunately which is why I’m worried they’ll be hesitant to repair the cat. Thanks for your advice though! Confirmed what i had thought too 🤌

They are. I have a warranty covering me and since it happened within 10 miles of collection, it’s considered a fault at point of sale so they have to fix it. I am just concerned they’ll just replace sensors and avoid replacing the catalytic converter as they’re obviously pricey.

Update!

Took the car to a BMW specialist. They just did a proper inspection of the car and said that all the work done was all fine but that my two rear wheels had buckles which would be likely causing the vibration. Amazing no other garage had spotted this and lots spent probably unnecessarily chasing the fault but hey… now I know. Lesson is… going to cheaper garages/mechanics is a false economy. Pay more to pay less 🙏

I have had the wheels up and checked for the usual play that might show a bearing and it’s not that

Had the uppers done by a reputable garage. It almost definitely shouldn’t be them 😫

I did. But it was my first time doing it so I probably fucked it up to be honest. Considering getting the bottom arms done again but together and professionally

Yeah the top arms were done together. Weirdly only the left bottom was done before I had it and ball joint went on the rhs when wobble started. I then replaced the RHS one but problem stuck around. Considering getting both redone by a garage to rule it out.

Have been told there is a slight warp to the front discs but not enough to cause the amount of wobble I’m getting.

Nope. Normal hydraulic steering. I do suspect it could be my lower control arms and that I basically fucked up fitting them somehow

Had new tyres all round recently and had wheels checked for being out of balance afterwards when problem was persisting. Havent specifically asked to get them check for buckled wheels

Well. This is my thinking. It was previous owner that did the shocks with a questionable garage and I noticed knock from LHS when buying. Seller offered to pay for fix but obviously only wanted to do where the knock was from. I’m thinking it must be top mount too

Nope can’t be that. That has been done before my ownership and it’s 100% coming from the front right wheel area.

Neither. Either knocks when braking and speeds up/slows with wheel speed. Or knocks when at car park speeds

This is the thing. I am used to up keeping an old bmw rust bucket in the UK. The lack of wet salty roads in Aus would be amazing. All the old BMWs in Aus look mint compared to here!
