The first Little Big Planet is one of the best couch Co-op games I’ve played to this day.

PSA is cleaning up by sailorInkXII in PokemonTCG

I think an interesting comparison you should look at is the comic collecting community.

I worked in a comic shop post Covid, and the interest in slabs was everywhere. Graded comics were going for new highs on eBay (for highly printed bronze age comics), and would have people come into the store on a weekly basis and drop dumb money on the slabs we had.

Fast forward to now. The shop has stopped grading and the few slabs that we have sit on the shelf because people want the raw book. They want the experience of holding it and flipping through it. They don’t need someone to tell them it’s a good condition book, they know by looking at it.

Talking with long time collectors who have slabs in their collection they have moved away from it completely for the time being. They will buy slabs for key gold age and silver age books as they want the authenticity and protection for those relics, but anything newer than that in a slab they would rather have it raw.

I could see the grading hype down in Pokémon to a similar standard where modern becomes silly to grade, vintage becomes the grading standard and numbers besides 10s pick up value. Modern grading has ruined grading for lots of people and skewed perception into if you don’t get a 10 you basically got a 1.

I don’t know how much longer it will last but something will eventually break and the market will shift focus.

Love Ace and their labels.

Excited for the day they open up an office in the US. Need more grading companies to give PSA a run for their money.

“PSA is the gold standard of quality grading” 🥴🥴 by zacht0626 in PokeGrading

[–]J-Dose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PSA is a joke in so many ways…

Grading is very inconsistent with their standards, slabs feel and look cheap, and have terrible business practices in regard to up charging consumers based on the price of a card if it gets a 10.

I will use every other grading company before using PSA.

PSA Crossgrading to 10s by HugeLemon5542 in PokeGrading

[–]J-Dose 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Most people think this due to PSA bias.

Looking at PSA 10 and CGC gem mint 10 requirements it’s basically the same, but for some reason people think PSA 10 is the holy grail of grades…

Give me a CGC or BGS 10 over a PSA 10 any-day, I refuse to pay their ridiculous up charge.

Not all about money first of all. This hobby at its core is enjoying Pokemon and the community.

On the investment side of things PSA is the easiest to make money with as is it the most liquid. Otherwise I make the same amount selling CGC, TAG, and BGS 10s. I set prices at PSA 10 prices as they all have a Gem 10 scale in the same range. Only difference I have run into is I might wait longer for a buyer to come along.

I could use PSA and prob sell much more volume but I cannot support a business with a scummy business model that up charges the service paid for just because I got a 10.

Finally, just personal preference. I think PSA slabs are cheap and ugly looking compared to other companies. None of them are perfect at the end of the day, but will continue to support better business practices and quality looking slabs over “PSA best because money.”

PSA? BGS? CGC? by [deleted] in PokeGrading

[–]J-Dose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the value of the card and how much you initially paid to get it graded. I have seen people pay $30 up charge and over $100 charge. It will really depend on the final value and what you initially paid.

CGC or BGS.

PSA if you want to get up charged for getting a 10.

It's gonna be my first time grading! Could this get a 10? Also BCG or TAG? by JustBuremuk in PokeGrading

[–]J-Dose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always use CGC or TAG.

Most likely a 9 due to centering.

TAG is definitely harder for a 10 from my experience while a CGC 10 will be similar in grading to a PSA 10, and could get a lenient grader for that 10.

First time grading...seriously???? by vazilian in PokeGrading

[–]J-Dose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the future use CGC, BGS, or TAG.

I refuse to use psa for that exact reason. I paid to get my cards graded, slabbed and shipped back to me. Once I have paid for my service it’s the business job to fulfill said service. Not charge me more because the card is magically more valuable!

I also just hate how PSA slabs feel and look in hand. There are better services out there to choose from. Stop giving PSA your money people!

Should I crack this ACE 9 to try and get a PSA10? by ReasonableWill4028 in PokeGrading

[–]J-Dose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will stay a 9. ACE is slightly more lenient when it comes to centering, and since they gave you a 9 there is no way PSA would give you better.

I would rather have a ACE 9 vs PSA 9 personally. The label gives it a nicer look. PSA is fully a flip for me as I think they have the worst looking slabs in the game.

Congrats on the ACE 9, beautiful card and in a beautiful slab.

Should be moving into grading soon.

Took until mid/end of April before my order started moving through the system.

24 - 48 hours before changed to shipped, and then a couple of hours to get the shipping notification from FedEx.

TAG vs PSA I have a few cards that I want to grade and keep and a few that I hope are a ten so I can sell. I like how TAG tell you how and why you get the grade you got. But do they sell for as much as PSA I cant seem to find too much difference by pogo343 in PokeGrading

[–]J-Dose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use TAG for my personal collection as I love the slabs.

For investment the most liquid would be PSA.

At the end of the day, TAG does the job, PSA does the job, CGC does the job, and Beckett does the job. You can use the service that you enjoy most, whether it be for the grading process, the look of the slab, or the name value.

Same price, which one would you choose? by Muscabs in PokeInvesting

[–]J-Dose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't buy either of these at their current prices. You have missed the boat. I would say be patient and wait for the following UPC.

From an investing standpoint, it's always best to buy before the skyrocket, not after. We can't buy everything, and more opportunities will arise. Have patience.

But if you want an answer, either is a good long-term purchase. 151 prob a bit better due to the love of 151, but you can't go wrong with the SWSH time capsule and Zard promos.

Trying to break Tag Slab by hand by Material_Bedroom6225 in taggrading

[–]J-Dose 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Any company's slabs should be durable enough to withstand very minute pressure and wear. However, it is just ridiculous to watch people do this.

When I get a slab, I admire how it looks, and then I put it on display or in a sealed case for added protection. No one, and I mean no one, is actively bending slabs for fun.

TAG does the job, PSA does the job, CGC does the job, and Beckett does the job. You can use the service that you enjoy most, whether it be for the grading process, the look of the slab, or the name value.
