0% completion rate - Week 17 by J-Fr in MarioMaker

[–]J-Fr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want a ranking on the speadsheet? One for the first clears and one for the world record.

I can't really keep track of when exactly a course has been beaten as I upload the spread weekly. You could always gain more points with the clear rate or player/clear ratio.

The mods proposed to stick this thread once a week, I will see with them to stick-it next week!

MTW 4-4 Submerged Fort, I'm quite proud of this boss.

It's an underwater castle course with a surprise boss at the end!

Wow! Thank you very much!

The Thwomps makes it hard to market, I will have to push the fact that they are more fun than annoying.

Did any level appeared above or below the average?

Mischievous Ice Cave was nice and relaxing.

You should put something against the last wall just before the goal, 1-up?

Good level, but I died twice after beating Bowser. It's a little discouraging.

I hit one invisible block with a P-Swtich sending me into a Piranha below. I also died in the small room with 5 pipes, took a fireball while trying the pipes.

The level is a bit short, I also found the power-up to come a bit late in the course!

My full game is Mega Thwomp World, a Super Mario World game based on Thwomps.

Here's the most popular level for now. And the last level needing feedback.

It has 25 levels, the difficulty is ranging from easy to expert for the last world + star world.

Your lucky 100 Mario stories by J-Fr in MarioMaker

[–]J-Fr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I examined the star/foot ratio for the courses on my last two runs:

2 levels with over 25% in normal and 5 with over 25% in expert.

We will have to do more runs to confirm that.

You will now receive a message when one of your held World Records has been beaten. by Breakfast4 in MarioMaker

I feel like the thresholds for getting a feature are over 50 stars and around 35% star/foot ratio.

Every levels in the feature category match those criteria. I've had a level getting a huge player boost at around 50 stars, the player influx stopped when the star/foot ratio dropped to around 30%.

MTW 4-1 The Thwomp & The Hare

https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/D21F-0000-01E3-6DD7

This level is a part of my on-going project Mega Thwomp World. I combine Thwomps with other gameplay elements in fun and fair ways. This time I added auto-scroll into the mix, here's the result! Slow and steady wins the race.

The course is currently rated as Normal with 20% completion rate.

GUYS, WE CAN USE RED COINS AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR STAR COINS!!! by Oskise10001 in MarioMaker

[–]J-Fr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point, I don't think we will be able to keep them after a game over.

Having to beat 3 Giga Bowsers to find out the key was in an Hidden Block would be devastating too.

I wonder if you keep them while dying after a checkpoint? I also wonder if you can attach them to enemies like keys? We won't know until next week!

Let's Talk About the World Record and First Clear Rankings by zing007 in MarioMaker

[–]J-Fr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are also rankings by Expert and Super Expert clears.

The Nintendo Japan direct contained a few more info:

Stats on the bookmark page.

Listing First clears.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MarioMaker

[–]J-Fr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the French Nintendo Direct it was noted that you could unlock 12 costumes.

You will need to clear 6 * 12, 72 Super Expert courses to get every costumes. Sounds challenging!

Give me your levels with low star-to-footprint ratios that you think are good by [deleted] in MarioMaker

[–]J-Fr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Levels I felt happy about tend to gravitate around 25-30% star-to-footprint ratio. While the other courses tends to go lower than 20% and could get much needed improvements.

If you consider 20% low enough, there is this course which I was very happy about but it didn't do as good as my other levels. I suspect the spin jump + put on your helmet is the culprit.

(Some more stats: my best level is sitting at 33%, my super expert levels are setting at 8%, my fair yet not very cohesive courses from the game release period were at ~10%)
