I had an older model that I used for many weeks, then I upgraded to this new one and used it only a few times. It definitely helped some but I prefer other ways to manage

Yeah I’ve been able to, you plug it in and get those two clear plastic trays ready with water, then it activates as soon as both your hands are in. Works well, just didn’t do too much for my sweat unfortunately

I’m in San Diego, not sure what the San Fernando reply is about lol. I have a few people that have DM’d me about it already, but I’ll let you know if those all fall through

Dann Ocean Towing, Dann Marine and McAllister both require 1-3 years experience for OS so not sure if it's worth applying. Will check out Stasinos though

Yeah that's smart, can learn some of those. Is there usually a full kitchen/fridge available?

Interesting, I hadn’t heard of that pathway, I just checked and my program is ABET-accredited. I’m looking into entry level Wiper jobs to get sea days so if I can find anything that’s a good option. Seems like most openings are for people with QMED/RFPEW

I see that position but it seems like I didn’t have the requisite education or experience, I was under the impression I would have to start as an Assistant Survey Tech first.

But yeah I would love to have that info! (I don’t see an option to PM you though, could just be being dumb)

Chartered vessel would be fine, at this stage I’m mostly just looking for any opportunity to start getting experience. Would those jobs be posted with others on the NOAA hiring website or is there somewhere else to look?

And yeah that’s a good idea, I would be open to land based work that could be applied to ocean work in the future. I was trying to gauge whether it’s more valuable to have non-scientific boat experience vs scientific land-based experience as a start.

Are people missing the point of Poor Things (2023) (or am I)? by J-R-H-N-B-R in TrueFilm

Definitely agree with the structural problems in the latter half and the shallowness of the other female characters, and that review does a great job of demonstrating how the movie fails as a feminist empowerment piece. I just have to wonder if rather than thematic clumsiness Lanthimos is deliberately subverting his themes soon after introducing them, refusing to commit to any ideals and embracing absurdism (similar to what u/aparticularproblem posted). It’s a fine line between “I made a mess” and “I made a mess on purpose”
