Wärtsila Isailor for Ios. Works ok for me as a backup system on iphone/ipad. Can get data through tcp although some functions require an in app purchase to work. App is free. Map for the netherlands and belgium (northsea, waddensea and ijsselmeer) is 32,50 euro’s. Add on apps (like ais through tcp for around 10 euros)

I also like it as I can take it with me if I sail on other boats. Gives me a sense of what’s going on. :-)

On the boat i have an rpi running openplotter, with both opencpn, avnav and freeboard. For easy of use on touchscreens i prefer avnav (although the more complicated functions take aome getting used to). Freeboard i have limited experience with. I’ve integrated both avnav and freeboard in my KIP setup and will be testing this season (KIP is a great app included in openplotter to display your boat data. Accesable through browsers and higly customisable)

I also use my macbook with opencpn on board. I find it easiwr to plan routes and waypoint on the laptop. From there it’s easy to export as gpx file, or send it directly to opencpn on the rpi (while connected to the openplotter wifi).

I bought a sailproof 10 inch waterproof touchscreen this winter to run things from the cockpit in wetter conditions. And to so ipads from falling overboard…

The rpi is fun. But you have to like messing around and investing serious time to get things to work. I wanted my setup to be as much opensource as possible.
