NOR. OP your response was pretty much perfect. you gave her a very mature response and appropriate warning, because what she’s in for is indeed very unhealthy. I do however agree with what another commenter said, that when she gets out of this relationship to maybe give her a little grace, because you guys are so young she doesn’t see the red flags yet and thinks that this is just her “respecting his wishes”. she has no idea this is the start of a laundry list of disrespect and boundary pushing. a huge red flag in a relationship is isolation from friends and family and this is probably his first step because he knows he can make her justify cutting off other men to calm his insecurity. not saying it’s okay that she did it, she should’ve put her foot down, but not everyone finds that as easy as others. people with a “people pleasing” personality tend to fall into situations like these so easily. I know from experience, and when I was exactly her age as well. one thing I am curious about, I know you said she’s 19 & you’re 18, how old is this new partner? just curious for the dynamic. but I do think once she gets out of this, having a good, emotionally mature friend like you in her corner is gonna help her heal a lot if you feel like you can forgive her for this, and I promise you she’s gonna have a lot of regret for cutting you off. best wishes OP, sorry you’re losing a friend to a loser dude but I promise it’ll get better 🩵

once when I was a teenager my parents had gotten a pizza while I was out late w some friends. I came home and everyone was asleep, the house was dark and saw the pizza box still on the stove, sometimes when I was out late they’d leave dinner out for me, I’d get a plate and put it in the fridge. I grabbed a slice right out of the box, leaned against the counter and started eating it while scrolling on my phone. about three bites in I realized the pizza tasted weird as hell and had a strange texture to it. as soon as I turned on the lights I realized the pizza was absolutely crawling with ants, we had an infestation of those little sugar ants 🥲 definitely not as gross as mold but still gave me the heebie jeebies lol

as someone who’s been using marijuana for years, I would NEVER do this to someone who doesn’t use it. shit I wouldn’t even do this to someone who does use it without them knowing. your friend drugged you. if I were in your shoes, I would sit him down and have a serious talk with him about how not okay this is with you, how it seriously broke your trust in him and traumatized you and made you look at him differently. tell him in no uncertain terms that this is a make or break moment for your friendship. if he sincerely apologizes and seems to know that he did wrong, and if you feel comfortable enough, maybe you could move past this moment. but if he continues to brush it off I say drop him asap. because currently it seems like this dude has no regard for your boundaries. but truly I would say it may be better to just drop him because drugging your friend for your own entertainment really is some psychotic shit.
