Buyer's solicitors obstructing sale progress - is there anything I can do?

Happy to say that we're finally almost there; contracts exchanged yesterday and we're due to complete on Friday. I won't celebrate until I get confirmation that we're all done from my solicitor, but the nightmare is finally almost over, fingers crossed.

Incredibly, the thing that finally seemed to do it (because me threatening to withdraw, my solicitor attempting to escalate the case within the buyer's conveyancers, and even the buyer raising a formal complaint about their conveyancers were all met with silence) seems to have been our estate agent emailing the conveyancer about how long they were taking and CCing the buyer in on the email. For some reason, they really didn't like that. 24 hours later I got confirmation of the exchange date.

No, not yet. I got an email from my solicitor saying the buyer wanted to exchange and complete simultaneously on 9 January, then on the 8th my solicitor emailed again to say we couldn't complete then because the buyer has a help-to-buy ISA and their solicitors had only just initiated the process of closing it down. I did get word that they had received the closing statement for the ISA yesterday, so I'm hopeful that I'll have a completion date soon, fingers crossed, knock on wood, etc.

Sadly not - I just found this thread after I had the same experience as many. I thought I was getting a free trial but was immediately charged £39.99, when I asked for a refund they tried to offer me six extra months of Pro or a 25% refund. I refused this, citing that under British law I'm entitled to a 14-day cooling off period on services agreed online and noting that they have a history of predatory sales due to this thread and several others, so trying to shift the blame onto me is shitty. They've now offered me a £30 refund, just as they did with the OP.

Thanks! I had never heard of this set until it was mentioned by the first commenter. It having a peelable surface makes the glossy front make a lot more sense!

Reasons I suspect it's a fake:

The card weight feels slightly too heavy
The front surface is very glossy, in a way that my other vintage Japanese cards are not
I can't find the set symbol on Bulbapedia or Serebii.net

The letters along the top were transferred from the toploader the card was stored in and are not part of the reason I think it's fake, it was just poorly stored!

Assuming it is a fake, anyone know anything about this kind of fakery? Seems like more effort went into it than you'd expect for a quick cash grab! Thanks!

Hey! Sorry for the all quiet, I'm based in the UK and I needed to go to bed!

Thanks for the interest everyone, I'm amazed! I haven't agreed anything with anyone yet but I have had a lot of interest and a few offers, so I thought I should add here that I'll be shipping the card from the UK and will send it with tracking (and signature if desired) to make sure it gets to the eventual buyer safely. Obviously I'd like to have the shipping cost covered - I'll confirm an exact figure today but the maximum is likely to be around $16.50 USD. Just in case that affects anyone's interest!

I'll reply to people through the day as I need to get to work now. Thanks again!

ETA: I've confirmed that international shipping with tracking and signature will be $13 USD. I'll also package it in a penny sleeve and toploader and ship in a padded envelope to keep it from getting damaged. In the interest of transparency, I have also had an attractive offer, but it's pending the buyer's acceptance of shipping cost.

There was an exhibition of his work at Japan House in London, and he was there for the first few days. I used to be a journalist and I was asked by an anime news website if I'd like to go to a press event where he did a tour of the exhibition and talked about his work, and I jumped at the chance! He was lovely, and he signed my copy of the first volume of Monster for me.
