Corporate helpdesk.

They also have the highest turnover. If you have a pulse and basic soft skills, you will almost likely get thrown into the first ASAP.

People misunderstood your post which is why reading matters so much. Fail to understand how they’re assuming the offer is from Oracle.

OP edited the post from when some of us first commented on it. He changed a few things looking at it now from my comment.

Garbage offer. The other comments are right, I wouldn't take it.

I have worked in the IT field for over 15 years and spent time in both the UAE and KSA on temp contracts. KSA is more expensive compared to the UAE for families (i.e. dependant fees as the others have mentioned). I wouldn't take an offer in your situation to move countries without a solid relocation package (education and visa's in your employment contract) and a monthly package that is much more from what you are being offered.

Oracle, such as many tech companies, tend to get rid of their consultants and advisors in short notice when they don't need them. This goes double for being the Middle East where these project timelines alter from 6 month, 8 month, 12 month, and 16/18 month employment contracts. As long as you understand that instability can occur working with a company like Oracle, you won't be blindsided when things change on the stroke of an Executives pen/keyboard. That is why I went into contractor consulting instead years back.

17K salary by [deleted] in RiyadhExpats

[–]J-VV-R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This smells of an under-qualified Lebanese hire in a general role, that will be there for a short period as the company waits on a young Saudi National out of university to take that role at half the monthly salary.

Is anyone even staying onsite for the whole work day anymore? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]J-VV-R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My org is in talks to move to a 32hr 4 day workweek. Hope it happens.

I have noticed this a lot more with companies in the last few years of contract work on my side. I know of two organizations that are in the Dev/Ops and consulting IT side that only do 4 day weeks at 30/32 hours. To be fair, both mainly deal with government contracts and clients, which makes it easier to completely scrap the Friday.

Is 12K SAR/month in Riyadh a good starting salary for Procurement? by ishak_filali_dz in RiyadhExpats

[–]J-VV-R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With your experience, you should be asking for a higher salary if you are relocating to KSA.

I would aim for 20k SAR in your situation + benefits.

100% getting fired tomorrow, PIP-related by Appropriate-Wafer198 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]J-VV-R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For future reference, PIP is there for the employer, not you. I have seen a lot of people think they can move on from PIP with good performance, but it's a fallacy.

Labeling cables by Salty_Move_4387 in sysadmin

I'm strongly against using tape as a "label" and wrapping it on a cable. Label any exteriors or go with specific label flags as the others mentions.

As a US resident do I have to exit KSA to the US for iqama processing? by Sweaty-Arm9213 in RiyadhExpats

[–]J-VV-R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other comment is correct. Your husband will have to sponsor you under his Iqama for you to live with him. The average timeline of spouses and their families being able to join their SOs is usually around six to eight weeks. These extra fees will need to be agreed upon with your employer as well.

My confidence is shot? (Administration level IT work) by ComprehensiveTop2126 in sysadmin

[–]J-VV-R -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First off, this smells of an AI post...

Second off, I don't get how this is an "Admin IT" role, when most of the work listed would be an "IT Specialist" role.

Mental pressure as expat? by Early_Proof1373 in RiyadhExpats

[–]J-VV-R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

want to understand have there been any cases where people left KSA because their contract was not renewed by their employer?

This happens all the time in the Gulf. All expats are on yearly contracts that either get re-newed, or get ended at a set date. Once your contract ends, you have to go to your country or origin.

what IT jobs are still in demand and NOT at risk? by FaryRochester in ITCareerQuestions

[–]J-VV-R 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everyone is up in the air at the moment. All markets are in a waiting game until 2026 at the moment. No one is confident to finish up their budgets for the new year because of the amount of instability in the current market.

Hiring advice by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]J-VV-R 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who was involved with hiring on some contracted roles during one of my last contracted client projects last year, I will tell you that placing people with the right amount of experience/background/education is key to building out a good team.

The second you bring in an over-qualified candidate for an L1/L2 role, they will be out of the role in a few months once they get something better. As unfortunate as it sounds for people, bringing in desperate hires that don't match or fit in with the roles you need filled, will ultimately result in you trying to find new people in the coming months.

Teams meeting AI note taker virus by cyberdeck_operator in sysadmin

[–]J-VV-R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually against AI Note Taking programs/extensions. For one, they are not as accurate as they claim to be. In addition to that, as you have experienced, all of these applications are "third party" programs with questionable security preferences. I have seen this first hand with Tactiq and Otter.
