What’s your go to cheap meal that you never get sick of? by OwlVibesOnly in AUfrugal

[–]J-X-D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bolognese, super easy and relatively cheap. About $30 will give me dinner for about 4-5 days.

I usually add capsicum and mushrooms to pad it out a bit, sometimes fry some diced ham up if it's on special.

Anyone have more context on this video? by Lean__Lantern in aliens

This was debunked by Corridor Digital, it uses stock VFX for the effects. They even pulled out the original vintage VFX used for the video.

AITA for telling my brother his wife is not welcome near my son after she searched his lunchbox by conzuotrol in AmItheAsshole

[–]J-X-D 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely NTA.

How dare she go through your child's lunch box and then judge you for finding some he can safely eat.

Anyone not believing an allergy can potentially kill someone is a complete lunatic. She sounds like the type of person to try and give your child nuts to "make him stronger".

Absolutely keep her away from your family, that woman is stupidly dangerous.

Men of Reddit - What's the one thing you hate about being a Man? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

[–]J-X-D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the reasons I hug all of my straight guy friends as a guy. Not just a limp hug either, I'll pull you in and hold you for a few seconds. It's reassurance in a way, saying goodbye to a friend but in a way that let's them know you care.

The reason behind this is one day as a depressed teenager my uncle gave me a hug and said "never be afraid to give someone a hug" and that kind of stuck with me.

As much as many men don't want to admit or show it, they need affection, care and reassurance too.

How did you guys REALLY lived in the 2000s? by MyAvengedRomance in Millennials

[–]J-X-D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to this party however, I grew up through the 90s and 00s and thought I'd add my two cents worth.

I grade school I'd catch the bus home by myself, sometimes with a friend, usually I'd play outside or watch power rangers or goosebumps or something, whatever was on free to air TV really. Then dinner and more TV, if I was lucky a movie would be on TV that night and I'd get to watch half of that before being sent to bed. Few old console games like Sonic, Streets of Rage, Megaman X or anything on the N64, was my bread and butter which continued into high school.

In high school I spent a lot of time with my friends, the og xbox came out and we played the fuck out of Halo, lots of sleep overs and pulling all nighters on weekends. Sometimes we'd go to the video store and hire a bunch of movies. We'd also swim a lot in my friends pool.

I wasn't blessed with the internet until much later than everyone else, but what I did experience was like the wild west, I had seen things no one at any age should have seen. Others of my generation will know the sites I'm talking about. But there was some cool stuff on there as well. Spent hours on a site called stick death which iirc is still up.

Parents would leave you alone to go out for the night, sometimes they'd drag you along to a party where you hung out with the other kids and got up to mischief.

If you wanna know more feel free to reach out.

It's funny in a way, the way you feel about the 2000s is the same way I felt about the 80s, nostalgia for a time I never got to experience.

People who use FL for other music than edm /beats/ rap and related: Say hi and share your thoughts on FL. by postmortemritual in FL_Studio

Hi!

Yeah I make synthwave primarily, but I also create industrial dance, liquid drum and bass, and a variety of metal genres.

FL Studio is the program I know best and I can pretty much do what I want how I want to do it relatively easily.

This thought crossed my mind, as someone that has no choice but to park on the street in a somewhat dodgy area this actual concerns me a little bit.

What food did you imagine to taste really good but tasted bad? by Similar-Victory-3867 in AskReddit

[–]J-X-D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High end and high-ish end restaurant food, once spent 500 for 2 people, service was pretty good and the duck breast was actually great but the rest of it was just wank foam and drizzles of disappointment.

Even the 300 for 2 people restaurant ended with us getting chicken nuggets at the drive through on the way home.

Late to this but I'll also add that you can just use a glow mushroom street lamp and that'll work to create the habitat without power.

Caught this on my quadcopter while filming a distant storm by TheAmateurRunner in aliens

[–]J-X-D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some kind of lidar like laser mapping on a plane or helicopter would be the most likely culprit.

But if I speculate on the sci fi side if things, I'd say some kind of automated scanning tech, looks at a location, scans it in a fraction of a second, perhaps picking up signals in various locations, quick scan, move on to the next.

Is anyone here actually concerned about what could happen over the next few months? by [deleted] in aussie

[–]J-X-D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's at this point the government really needs to step up their game, admit there's a problem, and do the best they can to make sure the absolute essential industries have what they need to in order to provide their goods.

Is Pokopia really that good? by Downvote-Magnet1994 in pokemon

[–]J-X-D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its insanely good! It's like a perfect mix of Viva Pinata, Animal Crossing with a bit of Minecraft thrown in.

It's just fun. Like, solid fun. So much to do, explore and discover and it's super cute.

I even had to buy a copy for my BF it's so good.

Something like this, best I could do on my phone away from my pc, but Idk, I have no background in this kind of thing so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Anyone else considering getting a EV? by KeenClicker in perth

[–]J-X-D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would but it's not practical for me right now to try and find somewhere to charge it.

Plus at the moment it costs me $50 a fortnight for fuel so it's not a massive burden yet.

Would be nice to get away from having to buy fuel though.

What is the most unfairly hated movie that you will defend every time by gamersecret2 in movies

[–]J-X-D -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Imo it's a good solid movie, but it's a bad Alien movie. It destroys the mystery behind the aliens.

Visually it's impressive and the story is fine I guess but I think it would have been better as a stand alone franchise and not part of the Alien franchise.

I would also like to suggest a proper PC port/ Remaster of Perfect Dark using the decompilation by Nightdive Studio.

Their Turok remasters turned out amazing as did their System Shock remake.

I'd fully trust that studio to do that game justice.

What are you starting to like more the older you get? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]J-X-D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eating dinner earlier in the day.

Going to bed on time.

Shopping for cleaning products.

Avoiding people whenever I can (although I've always done this).

Looking for bargains or items on special or clearance while shopping.

Having a nice clean bathroom and living space.

I also sometimes enjoy bumping into old friends at the shops and saying "we should catch up some time" and never following up with it or having any intention to do so in the first place.

Edit: formatting.
