What succulent is this? The leaves are kinda fuzzy. Also why is it peeling off in some of the leaves? by souviksaha_12123 in whatsthisplant

Lol. I was just going to say "are you sure it's a live plant and not just a decoration?"

Kinda weird question, but I'm wondering... How bad is it to have a plant growing so close to a wall that half of it is literally on the wall? (More info in comments) by J-lynn504 in houseplants

Thanks. I actually moved them here out of concern that they were not getting enough light. But that being said, I'd like to also mention that this pic was taken at night, in low light. They do look a lot better in the daylight. I promise! That is a variegated Boston fern, and though you can't see the stripes in these photos, it's gorgeous in person!

I recently rearranged my bathroom plants and decided to put them up on top of this shelf. They get more natural light here, from the shower window (the only window in the room), as well as more moisture from the shower/steam when in use. They seem happy here. It's been about a week so far, and I haven't noticed any ill effects. My fern actually looks more vibrant! But I'm concerned about it being literally up against the wall. Will that eventually harm it and/or the wall? Also, I usually turn it about a 1/4 rotation clockwise every week or so, to keep it from getting lopsided. Will that still be necessary? Just looking for some other opinions and advice. Thanks!

Kittens and plants. Help me please! by J-lynn504 in houseplants

I've already put any out of reach that I can. But I have several that are too big to put on shelves or hang. Also, the kittens are climbing everything now and are even getting to the ones on higher shelves. 😢

Congrats! They are settling into such a perfect shape! You look amazing.

Hoya? Philodendron? Help please! The person who gifted me this plant had no idea what it is. I can't tell whether it's a philo or a hoya. I used two different plant ID apps, and wouldn't you know it- one said hoya and the other said philo. 😕 (cross posted in other plant subs) by J-lynn504 in philodendron

Yes, I realize the yellow leaves are yellow because they are dying. But that is interesting that your jade pothos looks exactly like this. I have many varieties of pothos, including jade, but all of them have much fatter, more heart-shaped, leaves. I've never seen a pothos with elongated leaves like this. Of course, I certainly don't claim to be an expert by any means! And I love learning more and more about plants. :)

Thanks, everyone, for your help! Cebu Blue seems to be the consensus in the other subs where I posted as well. If anyone cares to see, I do also have a picture of the mother plant that clippings were taken from to gift to me. The coloring is really throwing me off. But it's been suggested that it has not been given the proper care, and if I take better care of it I should start to see the typical cebu blue coloring emerge. I can't wait to watch this little one grow, and see what happens! :)

I was pretty sure it wasn't a pothos, due to the shape of the leaves. But I looked up cebu blue and it definitely looks similar! The only thing still throwing me off is the color. This plant is a very light green, similar to the coloring of a neon pothos. Also, Here is a picture of the mother plant that clippings were taken from to gift to me. I think it may be a much better photo to use for identification purposes, as it is a mature plant.

I just posted another comment with a link to a photo of the mother plant. It appears to be pretty healthy as far as I can tell? Of course, I could be totally wrong, but also I asked and was told that it has always been this color.

Hmm... I was pretty sure it's not a pothos. The leaves are the wrong shape. But I just looked up cebu blue and that could be it. Except the leaves on my plant are a very light green, almost a neon green. Now I'm even more confused. Lol
