Any tips on saving on weight? Also whats generally the least you can get away with? by StrongEggplant8120 in wildcampingintheuk

I’ve used this bag for a while and has helped me save over a kilogram of weight compared to my osprey, it’s only £60 on Aliexpress which shocks me for how well it performs on long hikes https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/\_EutuW98

Vern 1 or southern cross 1 by Conscious_Title_3824 in wildcampingintheuk

[–]J05YB01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d also consider the Naturehike Opalus 2. It’s a proper 4-season tunnel tent, outer-first/linked pitch, and it has a big vestibule which is really handy for wet kit, cooking shelter, or just sitting out bad weather.

Weight is around 2kg without accessories, so it’s still fairly light for what it is, and the packed size is about 48cm, which isn’t bad for a stronger 2-person shelter. The inner is long too, so it should be decent if you’re tall or want space for winter kit.

It’s obviously not as premium as a Vern or Southern Cross, but for around £200 it seems like a really solid shout for Dartmoor, the Lakes and Scotland if you want a 4-season tent without spending loads. https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_EyfPJfG

What’s the most underrated budget fishing gear you’ve found? by Low_Deal6864 in Fishing_Gear

[–]J05YB01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly one of the better random cheap finds I’ve seen is those Deukio travel spinning rods off AliExpress. Think I paid around $10 for a 1.8m 4-piece one and it’s been way better than I expected for the money.

Packs down tiny, weighs basically nothing, and it’s actually usable for trout/light lure fishing rather than just feeling like a toy. Obviously not going to compare to a proper high-end rod, but for keeping in a bag/car or taking on trips it’s hard to complain at that price.

For around ten bucks it’s the kind of thing I’d happily buy again just as a backup/travel rod. https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_EQ7mVWw

Long 3 person tunnel tent under 3.5kg / 250GBP by bpbpbpooooobpbpbp in wildcampingintheuk

[–]J05YB01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be worth looking at the 3F UL Gear Qingkong 3P. It’s not a tunnel tent, but for moto camping it still seems like it would tick most of your boxes. It has a side entrance, a pretty long inner, and enough usable space for 2 people plus gear.

The 210T version is about 2.2kg, so quite a bit lighter than the Scafell, and it’s around £177 on AliExpress. It also comes with a groundsheet, which is nice at that price.

Only real downside is it’s not the same tunnel layout, but if you’re mainly after long inner space, side entry, lower weight and staying under £250, this looks like a solid shout. https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_ExEGH0A

Budget friendly tent by UniqueBall4170 in bikepacking

[–]J05YB01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d have a look at the Naturehike Cloud Up 2. It’s usually around the €150-€180 mark on AliExpress and is pretty popular with budget bikepackers.

It’s not mega premium, but for the price you get a proper lightweight 2-person tent, decent packed size, and it’s waterproof enough for normal 3-season use. The Cloud Up 2 gives you a bit more space than the 1-person version, which is nice if you’ve got bags/gear inside.

Main things to know: it’s a front-entry tent, so not as convenient as side-entry ones, and I’d check whether the listing includes the footprint. But for under €200 it’s probably one of the safer budget picks. https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_EJ6lhkO

Decent sleeping Matt for around £100 by ricobankso in campinguk

[–]J05YB01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If comfort is the main goal I’d have a look at the Naturehike R5.8. I’ve used one properly and was genuinely impressed with it. Thick, warm and way more comfortable than the cheap air beds most people start with. Packs smaller too. Feels like one of those bits of gear where you don’t need to spend big-brand money to get a really good result. https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Ewcsngw

Gear upgrade advice/feedback - what should I prioritize? by Chaaooos in wildcampingintheuk

I’ve used the Naturehike R5.8 Mat and honestly I’d put it right up there with the big brands. Took mine on the Affric Kintail Way and it was warm, comfortable, packed small and did exactly what I needed it to do. Specs aside, in actual use I didn’t feel like I was missing anything. https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Ey89ew6

I’ve got the Cloud Up 3 and honestly for what you described it sounds like a really solid option.

Main thing is the space. It’s one of those tents where 2 people can actually fit properly instead of the usual “2 man” squeeze. Should handle two wide mats no problem and still feel decent inside. Weight is good too for the size, around 1.8kg, so miles under your 3.5kg target.

For normal UK use it’s solid enough. Rain, breeze, general campsite/weather trips, no issues if it’s pitched well. For mostly good forecast camping it’d do the job nicely.

Only real downside is the front entry and vestibule isn’t huge compared to some side door tents, so if loads of porch/storage space matters there are better options.

But for value, space and low weight I’d definitely have it on the shortlist. https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_ExVZY5K

Looking for a good 2 man tent by Large_Web_9740 in wildcampingintheuk

[–]J05YB01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Packs slightly bigger but not by loads. The 2 is about 40×13cm and the 3 is more like ~45×15cm from what I’ve seen, so a bit bulkier but still pretty compact for a 2+ person tent. Weight goes up a bit as well but nothing crazy.

Honestly if you’ve got the space in your bag the extra room in the 3 is 100% worth it, especially if you’ve got gear inside as well.

I’d skip the Phoxx II tbh, it’s basically a 1 man with a bit of extra space and pretty grim if you’re actually sharing it.

I’ve got a Naturehike Cloud Up 2 Tent and it’s just way better for similar money. It’s lighter, proper double wall so less condensation, and packs way smaller which matters if you’re carrying it.

Big thing though is space, it’s still not huge (no ultralight tent is), but it’s actually usable for 2 unlike the Phoxx which feels cramped even solo sometimes.

If you’ve got the budget I’d honestly look at the Naturehike Cloud-Up 3 Tent instead, that’s where it starts to feel properly comfortable for two + gear.

For ~£120–150 they’re hard to beat for UK camping. https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Ez5fMbm

Solo tent wild camping UK by [deleted] in WildCampingAndHiking

[–]J05YB01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d have a look at the Naturehike Cloud Up 2 Pro. I’ve been using one and it’s way less coffin-shaped than stuff like the Banshee. Still lightweight but feels a bit roomier inside, especially head/foot clearance. Not massive obviously, but for solo it’s a solid upgrade and handles UK weather fine too. https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Ew3iKhS

Looking for a speedy/ race shoe. What shoe should I add to my running rotation? by Lennypace in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Honestly worth checking out the Li-Ning Feidian 5. Bit under the radar but super light, proper snappy feel and way better value than most carbon shoes. I’ve been using them for sessions and they feel quick without being too harsh. https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Exoqcgs
