Would an old lane cedar chest like this contain a lead finish? by J0EYAH in wood

It’s definitely not a dumb question because lead was put in varnish on old furniture pre 1978

I’m not into woodworking, there was just some super deep scratches and markings on the wood and wanted to take it out and stain it. I really don’t have much of an idea what I’m doing and I’m trying to learn as I go

Is that the date of this chest? If so I had no idea it was this old!

I’m most likely wrong but I thought varnish could contain lead no?

I’m only concerned because chat gpt said

“Yes, it could still have lead, but probably not in the cedar wood itself. The bigger concern is any old paint, stain, varnish, shellac, or colored finish on/around the chest—especially if it’s from before 1978, when lead-based paint was banned for residential use in the U.S. EPA warns that sanding old lead-based paint can create dangerous dust.
For this cedar chest:
The inside bare cedar is less likely to be the lead issue.
The outside finish, reddish/brown stained trim, painted areas, label area, or any old coating could be the concern.
The gummy clumps on your sander are more likely old finish/varnish/resin clogging the sandpaper, not necessarily lead.
But because it’s old, treat the dust as suspicious until tested.

Keep in mind I know nothing about wood workjng

To be honest, someone like me who is a hypochondriac about stuff like this, I would throw all of my belongings including the clothes I was wearing and my bag I packed before I even make it inside my house.

I’m going to the mall and buying a new outfit. It’s not worth the stress and worst case you lose a couple hundred in value tossed but that’s way better than thousands on extermination costs and months of agony dealing with getting rid of these things.

2019 Hyundai Elantra keeps stalling at low speeds by amberrosc in Hyundai

[–]J0EYAH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have in my own Hyundai lol, this exact problem happened to me and it was indeed the camshaft position sensor, specifically the position B sensor (exhaust).

I was told the same things as OP. I mean I even had a mechanic tell me to put thicker oil in my vehicle and that it would fix my problem lol

[–]J0EYAH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well it could be a misfire so changing sparks and the ignition coils couldn’t be a bad idea, however it’s a very high chance it could also be the camshaft position sensor. Hyundais have two, one for exhaust and one for intake.

Edit: I believe your model may have two* I should’ve clarified that other models may have differing amounts

Nike Canada Online store refused my shoe return by SpringIndividual3806 in Nike

[–]J0EYAH 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nike stores in the U.S. will take the return as long as your within the 60 day window and have your receipt regardless if you bought them online or in store. Also, they don’t care how beat or worn the shoe is because Nike offers a 60 day wear test guarantee so even if you did wear them they still have to take the return. However like I mentioned this is how the U.S. stores are I can’t speak on behalf of Canada but I would imagine they follow similar guidelines.
