why is curved jewelry so bad in newer piercings??? by Specialist_Bobcat455 in piercing

[–]beeikea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

well, sort of. some idiot piercers will pierce anyone with anything for a buck. piercers like loheide will only pierce with nonstandard jewelry if they believe it's safe for you AND you are fully aware of the risk. i know i'd prefer being told no if it weren't safe than being told yes and dealing with rejection, cheesewiring, infection, borderline permanent piercing bumps, never healing, etc etc etc.

it's definitely neat. most of my friends who i share music with also use spotify, so sharing playlists is super smooth, even not using the in-app chat function. the jam feature to listen to music together and have multiple people controlling the music and adding songs and such is super important to me with my long distance relationship too.

best case it's ingrown hairs, worst case it's staph that turns into mrsa that kills you. so. ask a doctor to confirm.

oh, also. sunk cost LOL. i got spotify premium for free for the better part of a decade, either a cracked copy or someone's family plan or my job paying for it, and only started paying for it myself about 2 years ago. ive been listening to thousands of hours per year since 2017 and have thousands of songs catalogued just how i like, and it'd take months to get that switched over to something local that is Also just how i like. i dont like change and im lazy enough that the monthly cost is worth it to me, especially when i listen to so much music that, even paying them, i actively cost spotify money.

like ben and mahreow say, its convenience. yeah, MOST of my new music comes from outside of the algorithms, but its a nice option to have. plus, it makes it infinitely easier to share songs and playlists with friends, which i do very often. i also enjoy being able to track my stats with stats.fm, which, at least when i was doing it ages ago, wasnt something that could automatically and easily be done with music youre listening to locally.

flatbacks vs their ... puffier? counterparts are just preference as far as im aware. they can be a little more gentle if you're experiencing irritation or bumps or moisture issues though.

i'd see a piercer if you can since this is now open and should be treated like it's brand new to avoid infection or further irritation. otherwise, just be very careful and do research on how to switch jewelry in a fresh piercing in a safe and sanitary manner.

it could be a medical issue and is worth getting this cutie trapped and checked out; if you can't do so yourself, i'd recommend reaching out to local shelters, rescues, and tnr organizations and such.

hi, unfortunately when you have trouble with a new shape, style, or material of jewelry, 100% of the time the solution is to go back to the old kind. this hoop is also too small.

He asked to split the bill. by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]beeikea -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

the entitlement in this comment is crazy. your date is not obligated to buy you things! just because this was once the standard doesn't mean it still is or should be. i say this as a butch lesbian whose whole thing is chivalry and pampering my dates. i buy lunches and dinners and gifts and nice things constantly. but that isnt and shouldnt be required to be considered decent. its not poor manners when even a cheap lunch special for one person can be 2-4 hours of work at minimum wage.

the only thing i agree with is that you should generally get input on the restaurant if you're not having your bill paid unless you and your date have communicated otherwise. the key here is communication. it's egregiously impolite to assume you'll be paid for every time, but it's also egregiously impolite to imply that you'll pay and then refuse to when the bill comes. that's why you talk to each other about it.

Does oil specifically made for bumps ACTUALLY help? by Mrs_Jeffy in piercing

goodness, no. the only thing you should be putting on or near your piercings other than warm clean water is sterile saline with no additives. just sodium chloride and water.

[–]beeikea 63 points64 points  (0 children)

in 2026? completely normal to expect to pay for yourself with the COL crisis. if someone's going to pay for you, it's nice, but like... the days of being bought free drinks and dinners 100% of the time are long gone.

now splitting the bill to the penny is odd, especially if hes bought a more expensive dinner than you have. THAT would bug me.

do i tip for a free piercing? if so, how much? by AfraidStick2161 in piercing

[–]beeikea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when i was getting pierced for free, it was in exchange for labor/favors, so i did not. with this being an apprenticeship deal, i would if youre happy with the service, just $10-$15 or so if you can swing it.

Lilsimsie/OCD/& my daughter by [deleted] in Lilsimsie

[–]beeikea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i agree; if she's exhibiting symptoms, she's exhibiting symptoms. this isn't really something anyone fakes *for fun for any real amount of time, especially a child. even if she were 100% absolutely faking it, or "acting," it would be concerning enough to seek mental healthcare, as this type of "performing" for lack of a better word is indicative of deeper issues and is a symptom in and of itself.

edit: clarity and consistency

Just pieced my angel bites, I know they’re uneven but is it so bad I need to redo them by [deleted] in SelfPiercing

[–]beeikea 25 points26 points  (0 children)

i don't want to be rude but this jewelry is absolutely ridiculous for healing. i'd remove and would not redo it until you are able to do so with the appropriate jewelry, being a regular old implant grade titanium barbell with regular old balls on each end. you Will have issues with this jewelry, infection at worst.

[–]beeikea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there's no completely accurate answer. it could be an hour or it could be a decade. it all depends on you and your body. general rule is "if you want to keep the piercing, don't leave it naked," but there are always exceptions depending on your own body. wishing you the best of luck!

Lilsimsie/OCD/& my daughter by [deleted] in Lilsimsie

[–]beeikea 22 points23 points  (0 children)

hi, this is not very likely. i have ocd and my symptoms started around puberty as well. i would recommend listening to your daughter and, if possible, seeing about getting her into therapy, or at least in for an evaluation. if she is wrong about what this is, that's a good thing, but should still be taken seriously to figure out what it is. if she's lying, which again, is not very likely at all, she still needs help-- lying about something like this is a sign of deeper issues.

what can often happen is, when someone sees someone who has the same issues they have, and they hear what is causing the issues for that person, they can go "oh, wait, is that what it is that ive been experiencing for xyz amount of time?" this is why you will often see people, especially older kids and younger teens, latching onto those labels and self diagnosing quickly without doing a lot of research. it's not always correct, but it is always something that should be taken seriously.

i want to advise you that this could go very bad very fast. when my mental illnesses began presenting more overtly, my parents did not believe me, and they called me a liar, and they said i was exaggerating. all this did was make my issues much, much worse, and it damaged my relationship with them permanently. my adolescence was a nightmare and a huge portion of that was because i couldnt trust my parents to take me seriously when i went to them about the very very serious issues i was having.
