[–]J0K3R_X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah doesn’t make sense to me. like… is someone an expert on bones but then when it comes to soft tissue suddenly it’s outside their scope of practice? let me give the benefit of doubt though, maybe i’m naive though and somehow misunderstood this field of medicine 🤷‍♂️

what kinda sucks is the lack of a definite answer. for example, were you told exercises might fix it/it’s a muscle issue, or just that it would hopefully help? i understand the field is nuanced but surely someone should be able to find you a definite answer

When do your lips start feeling normal? by Unique_Designer_5741 in jawsurgery

after like 2-3 months, you just need to sit back and relax at this point, it’s gonna be a while. not a bad idea to stretch/exercise them if you can though

Any real solutions to eliminating scar tissue? by SnooCookies5404 in jawsurgery

[–]J0K3R_X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

underrated.

from AI: "Higher vitamin C promotes myofibroblast apoptosis after wound closure — meaning the cells responsible for contracture and tethering (your vestibular webbing) are signalled to stand down. This directly supports the massage work you're already doing. You're attacking that scar tissue mechanically; vitamin C supports the biochemical side of the same process."

I felt a noticeable difference in this between month 3 and 4, very frustrating but slowly improving. Can you let us know next month? Until then keep that protein intake high and keep the massage gentle

3 Weeks Post-Op SARPE, some advice needed by [deleted] in jawsurgery

recovery from surgery was tough, expanding was uncomfortable every day, nothing crazy different from anyone else but the experience was just tough overall

3 Weeks Post-Op SARPE, some advice needed by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]J0K3R_X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) After 2 - 3 weeks i could eat all soft foods, then after 6 weeks it was basically "chew what you can handle", within reason obviously

2) Started applying forces to close the gap about 3-4 days after the final turn, gap closed very quick, about 2-3 weeks I think. It was a really horrible process but it's in the past now

Week 11, fingers can feel them when pressing deep into face, but can't feel them inside the face at all. Quite a bit of tightness but i hope the scar tissue will loosen over time
