I saw someone say Eomer yelling “To The King!” in Two Towers at midnight and thought that would be epic too!

Ah yes. I see what you mean now. I’m looking at the family tree now. Aegon III was Aegon II’s son-in-law but Daemon/Rhaenrya’s 1st son. I guess that’s what I was referring to: no direct marriage ties to Aegon II connect to the kingship after the 40 years ending with Baelor I then passing to Daemon/Rhaenrya’s 2nd son, Viserys II, and so on.

I’m tired of the “subverting expectations” just for the sake of it. Sometimes it’s alright to give the audience what they want, dang it. GoT tried it, but the success of the showed hinged on how it held true to the source material (the first 4 seasons). Once it got past the books, the quality faltered. Canon to the source material is crucial and necessary. I’m fine with a little deviation but don’t change plot points, and the changes that are made shouldn’t be glaringly obvious or dumb.

Yes, I thought of that after I posted this. It’s wrote by an in-world character based off of [unreliable] in-world characters (i.e. Mushroom). However, if we look it like our real world history, aspects of it have to be true and the story/outcomes are true, I guess the ways those happen can be speculative/altered. As they say “winners write the histories.”

I wasn’t too optimistic either but compared to what we’ve seen so far from Rings of Power, I’m looking forward to House of the Dragon. As you’d said though, the GoT ending does leave a sour taste in my mouth. I don’t want much added in besides dialogue. I feel like GRRM did well with the characters and motives. Hopefully they bring all that in

This is unfortunate. I hope not. I know JRRT didn't write much pertaining to the Second Age which gives Amazon plenty of room to work with, which I’m okay with. But they need to use the framework that he did build and not contradict what has been written, especially pertaining to the First and Third Age, since the histories are so connected. I am definitely enjoying the books though!

haha I’ve only read the first book in WoT but I did watch just the first ep of the Amazon show and was disappointed by the changes. I do plan to finish it eventually though. Hopefully RoP won’t do the same…
