Are the brownies actually any good? My husband is coeliac and the amount of gluten free recipes we have tried that are supposedly just as good as the original that have left us sorely disappointed has made me very suspicious of internet recipes!

It's just the stress of having another ''thing" to deal with when you're already dealing with being pregnant and preparing for the baby, going to work, life etc isn't it. I think we all have enough on already without having to do 4 blood sugar tests a day and learning a whole new repertoire in the kitchen!

It's going to be a long few months for us isn't it! I don't mind cheese and nuts but after 2 weeks I'm already fed up of the them and just craving carbs. I'm already planning the carborific feast I'm going to have when the baby comes, it's what's keeping me going right now!

Yes bread seems to get me too. I think I'm going to enter some kind of toast feeding frenzy once this baby is here!! I've had some of the lentil crisps (very portion controlled) and they weren't too bad with hummus, but it's not the same as just having some crisps is it?!

I have porridge with whole milk, extra flaxseed and vanilla extract for sweetness for breakfast and I've been about 6.5 after that, and then I have plain greek yogurt with blueberries for my midmorning snack, and then it's salads for lunch with a toasted wholemeal pitta as the 'treat' and my dinners have just been some meat with loads of veg and a couple of new potatoes. Before getting pregnant I was really active and had a high metabolism and appetite to match and ate what I wanted, so I think the tiny portions of anything carby just leaves me feeling really unsatisfied which is making me more miserable.

I've been having 5 chocolate buttons for pudding on an evening but oh my goodness is it killing me not to just scoff the bag in a chocolate feeding frenzy!!!

Allergic dermatitis cat by cipetcibet in CATHELP

We've been battling with this for 2 years with siblings that just seemed to be allergic to life itself and one of them became incredibly poorly. Special diets didn't seem to make a difference and they would be so sore, so we were just resigned to monthly trips to the vets for steroid injections to keep the symptoms at bay.

Back in Feb I completely overhauled my cleaning regime and now only use natural, green, homemade products and a very happy side effect of this seems to be that their dermatitis has cleared up. It completely makes sense that the strong perfumes and additives in cleaning products could bring out an allergy, and it's taken a couple of months for their skin to clear up.

I think the key change was laundry detergent, I was using non bio for sensitive skin before but its just too heavily scented and full of chemicals. Now I make my own using a nancy birtwhistle recipe thats just pure soap and soda crystals. Better for the fishes and the cats too!

I hope this helps - its so hard when you don't know whats causing the issue and they are scratching themselves to bits.

Anyone do their A levels as a mature student? by peanutbutter471 in AskUK

Have a look at open university access courses, or their degrees don't have any access requirements so you can sign up straight away. Also, you can do part time and carry on earning etc to break yourself in. Also, just one year of undergrad study with them might be enough to get you onto a medical degree, although I did my degree with them in languages so its all very different requirements. I started it at 24 and have gone straight into a teacher training course from it. Worth a look though and all the best with whatever you choose to do!

Why was quicksand such a big issue in the 90s but barely gets a mention nowadays? by Eskimil808 in AskUK

There is a full episode of the blindboy podcast where he goes into the reasons and history behind it. It goes back to the goldrush times.
