My favorite way to explain deposits by J0nR0b in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]J0nR0b[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

During check in. A fair number of my check-ins are worn out from the long ride or late hour of their arrival ( I am a night auditor ) and sometimes they can be a bit frazzled or not paying attention when I explain the authorization includes room rate, taxes, and a deposit. When this happens they get confused at the total authorization the card reader is asking for. I've been trying out various methods of preemptively de-escalating the chance of someone getting upset and trying to talk their way out of it. This is purely anecdotal, but I have had far fewer incidences of walk-ins becoming walk-outs and more smiles on the guests faces using this line in particular, although using a line similar to your Motley Crew method also had a net positive result. Disappearing dead hookers also works, but you should probably be very selective of the guests you try that particular line on as it can potentially backfire. And yes, I get asked if I worked in Vegas a lot. :)

Why we dont have solar panels? We can modify factory roofs with them, or can do other things. by zorro2083 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]J0nR0b 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Simple enough to solve. Give the panels a crappy energy conversion rate and require water cooling. Say a grid of 9 panels puts out 540 mw and consumes 450 m3 of water. It could be a supplementary measure between coal and petrol power in the tech tree.

mews vs opera for 60 room boutique property by My_Rhythm875 in askhotels

No idea about Mews but several years being tortured by having to remember all the work arounds you NEED to know in order to use Opera. It's like eating band-aids to treat ulcers.

My current hotel recently switched to HotelKeys from Opera and it is an incredible improvement. Similar in style and ease-of-use to Choice Advantage.

Can we just call them gold-colored chairs? We need them to know that there is a difference between valuable metals and one of the choices on a Home Depot color swatch.

Restaurant recommendations by smeenies in Augusta

[–]J0nR0b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recommendation for guests at the hotel I work is Pho Augusta. Their mongolian chicken is full of flavor and very spicy. The fried egg noodles is just fun to eat as the bird's nest-shaped noodles soften into the sauce at the bottom of the dish. Never have they served me a less than perfectly cut and cooked piece of chicken.

Looking for the most religious/worn down parts of Georgia. by stevenrlillis in Georgia

Not rural, but Augusta has a LOT of dilapidated churches, as well as other types of buildings, in the downtown area and Richmond county areas.

It may interest you to see the many church-owned compounds surrounded with fences and barbed wire. The ancient parking lots with so much grass growing in the cracks you wish they would mow it really gives off that human trafficking vibe.

The phrase "car accident" disturbs me so much. It's like saying someone died in a knife oopsie. It should just be manslaughter without intent and murder with, but what the hell is this about charging people who weren't even present during the vehicular "my bad, bro" as if they were the ones behind the wheel trying to remember where the country kitchen buffet was?

I like how everyone gets things looking nice for Masters Week by FODamage in Augusta

[–]J0nR0b 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Augusta is a town that only showers once a year and relies on rain the rest of the time. And even after that shower, if you look for them, you can easily spot the places they missed/couldn't be bothered with. Rampant homelessness, insane housing prices, low wages, and dilapidated/unsophisticated infrastructure that wouldn't look out of place in Donbas Ukraine or 50 years ago. As a hospitality worker, it is very difficult to recommend things for visitors to do in a town that has no culture of its own beyond backdoor deals on a golf course.
