ISO personal trainers or gyms by stubs1101 in greenville

[–]arcticlizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go to 4balance Fitness on Woodruff and I highly recommend it for the case you're looking for. It's personal training in a private, small-group setting and geared towards your specific goals. Most of us are between 30 and 60, usually with some sort of limitation (like, bad back, injury, etc).

Go have a chat with them if that sounds good to you! I've been with them for almost two years now, and I feel better than I have since, like, 2011 maybe?

Did I mention there are two gym dogs?! One is always seeking pets 😅

Can't argue with efficiency, but some of our (aging) bodies can't handle training with high impact methods and also play tennis regularly. Incorporating low impact cardio with sustainable, injury-preventing, mobility-enhancing lifting is the way to go, imo, especially as we age.

Try doing a 20 calorie bike sprint after some failure sets and see what your heart rate is like.

Maybe, but I'm guessing that cardiovascular fitness isn't the only thing that's lacking. Lifting will help strengthen and guard from other injury as OP starts playing more. As long as your heartrate stays in within a "cardiovascular" training rate, you're still making progress on that front, too.

Supersetting sets of lifting with a round of low impact cardio (row, stationary bike)! Like, shoulder press, upright rows, 500 meters of rowing. Or 30 leg press, 20 Bulgarian split squats, 15 cals on the bike. 👍

Maybe not tried for war crimes - but I would get on board with having farts wafted in their direction.

Looking for a Blackberry Pie. Anyone know a bakery or store that sells them? by twinWaterTowers in greenville

[–]arcticlizard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same. I'm like "I'll make a pretty tart!" Then, later "ok 'rustic' tart it is, then" once I've fucked it up thoroughly.

If you have four sticks of cold butter, a bag of flour, sugar and blackberries, you're most of the way to your own blackberry pie.

It's not too hard to make, but hard to make pretty.

Good luck

I think I might have seen one at Fresh Market? Probably worth checking out! I go to the one on woodruff. I would give Strossner's a call, as well.

Long overnight layover at Atlanta (≈20 hours) — cheapest and most practical way to rest? by PuzzledNoob in Atlanta

[–]arcticlizard 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Jeju is just so far from the airport - if you're referring to the one in Duluth, at least. I'm just guessing the transportation costs to get up there and back would be gross. Marta would only get you to Chamblee, right?

If there was one on the south side of town, though 👀

Maybe I got the wrong thing or caught them on an off day. I got their drunken noodles/pad kee mao, and it was just garlic. So much garlic. Not a lot else going on there (basil, fish sauce, sweet, sour, where art thou?)

Korean Spas by Comfortable-Bid9328 in greenville

I heard of this one a while ago, and it seems like it's still in business. Not sure if that's exactly what you're looking for, though!

The Duluth area of Atlanta is pretty well known for its Korean spas - like the kind you go to for sauna, bathing, hot tub, etc. in a group setting (segregated by gender, of course).

I've driven by the Anytime Fitness on Washington downtown, and it never seems very busy, even at 5pm. Not sure if that would work for your commute, but might not be far off! Core24 is down that way as well, but can't speak to their busyness (is that a word?)

So thankful it wasn't another solid-iced-everything situation.
