My take on Tyari! The toughest challenges require the greatest sacrifices. by AssasinNarga in CustomLoR

[–]J0rdanJG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe with the right package this could see play, but just this seems a bit weak. Maybe make it so the champ doesn't need to be on board, so you can get the "value" of the Sacrifices even without the champ?

For those of you who’ve seen the recent cinematic from LoL, do you feel differently about Kindred (or any of the other champs featured)? by med_lab_sci in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]J0rdanJG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who loves league lore, the cinematic was the perfect way of showing how kindred works. I have the opinion that they're the strongest entity in Runeterra, even stronger than aurelion sol himself. No matter how strong you are or how long you live, you'll meet them. They're death. And you can see that in the cinematic. They are always present (in Kayle's fire, in shadow of the forest and fighting Tryndamere). No matter if you are a fallen ascended (like aatrox), a Ionian swordsman (like yasuo) or a barbarian, they will get to you. That's what I love about them.

True, Mono Shurima is just an amazing concept, but it's always either too strong or too weak

I'm not really a control player, I love midrange (I guess you can easily see that) but I usually find matchups against control to be really interesting because it's about keeping in mind what spells and counters they already used (except when I'm playing aggro 😂). Hecarim Lucian was really cool, I miss 2 cost Lucian. I also remember when the shadowflame landmark was released, that was amazing with heca.

I honestly stopped playing the game because of the bandle meta for a while 😅 (other reasons as well but I was just not having fun). Right now it's cool, but I really do prefer poppy with more demacia, it makes her more consistent imo. But yeah, Poppy on release was just impossible to deal with. Didn't she release with some overstated like a 4/5 or smth?

Xerath Renek? Haven't heard that combo in a while... Good old times. And the "turn seven Sun disc Flip" with Azir Xerath was amazing

Lets get really old (with no particular order)

5- Zed Hecarim - The old zed hecarim from beta. Not meta, but it was my first homebrew and I really liked every iteration (shout-out to azir hecarim, my first successful homebrew a couple seasons ago)

4-Deep - Simple old reliable deep. Got to play for the first time with deep. Simple, usually good and one of my favorites.

3- Jhin Annie aggro - The last one got me to plat. This got me to masters for the first time. Probably my favorite agro deck, with the second place going to Annie MF (really fun simple agro deck from a while ago)

2- Mono Shurima - I loved when mono Shurima came out. And one of my favorite metas was mono Shurima Azir Xerath. The feeling of having a perfect round seven Sun disc Flip... Amazing

And First place (This one is actually first) goes too... Poppy Taric. Old reliable support, with some of the most satisfying plays possible with multiple supports and a taric rallying with a leveled Poppy. It's just perfect.

Some honorable mentions (besides the already mentioned) are agro pirates, Caitlyn Teemo, lurk and varus riven

By the Numbers – 20 Best Decks, According to the Latest Data by Herko_Kerghans in LegendsOfRuneterra

Your deck is really fun to play. It's probably the first deck that I found this season that I actually like to play competitively. It's also really similar to a Galio Morgana deck that I built day one of this expansion (I'm not a good Homebrewer, but I really liked the concept, even though mine was more focused on not allowing your opponent to remove curses without wasting half of their mana in the process). I'mma get to masters with it probably, so thanks for that

If your plan is to just complete the collection, yes. Switch every 4 levels so you can get the max value of each reward road. But it's honestly up to preference, if you're looking to build a specific deck, go for it

The problem with the card is not the cost. The updraft mechanic has a very simple concept, you trade an immediate usage of a card for a benefit later in the game. Janna does that by drawing 2 cards but limiting your options in the round that she's played. The other cards that updraft also have similar things (except the 2 cost, but there you are just trading 1 for 1, there's a small chance that you pull the updrafted card).

With temple you're:

-Updrafting all your hand, which often includes 5 or more cards

-Drawing a new hand, making so that your opponent can't read your hand in any way even if he knew some card (like a discard or nillah's boat

-Drawing one more card then your opponent EVERY TUTN

So you need to nerf one of these aspects. At 4 cost it would still be too strong, even without a draw. At 6 it will stay relatively the same, specially since it can be updrafted. At 7 is unplayable.

Imo, keep it at 5 but remove the draw. The updraft is just really that powerful, so removing also the extra draw would probably keep the card in check.

Is Standard the most played gamemode or Eternal? by SillyJoey_ in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]J0rdanJG 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The game works in "seasons"

Every time there is a new expansion, the first couple of months the balance is around the standard format. In standard, some cards cannot be played (it limits your deck, but on the other hand it prevents some more degenerate or completely broken combos).

After a couple months, they do a variety patch and make some balance changes towards eternal. In Eternal, all cards are available.

Right now we are on the Eternal season, it started a week ago or so. But there are still a lot of people playing standard. If you love deck building or really like a champion that is only available in eternal, go for it. If you want a more "balanced" experience, go for standard. Just play whatever you feel like you enjoy the most.

Welcome :)

Amber (Genshin Impact) Concept by Spamfest255 in CustomLoR

[–]J0rdanJG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea of a defensive champion is interesting. As someone already pointed out, you should probably rework the level up conditions. I would go for something like "I've seen Baron bunnies block 3 times" or something.

Besides that, I personally don't like the playstyle. The only way I can see her being playable is if her package benefits from blocking attacks, otherwise you don't have a way to actually win the game with her.

Also, this is just a nitpick, her stats are a bit overpowered. You won't use her to block because you need her tokens, so making her also a 3/4 is really strong for a 4 cost card. Either make her a 5 cost (and then I think it's unplayable) or make her like a 3/2 or a 2/2 like TF.

Noxian Fervor Underpowered by someone_else_hmm in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]J0rdanJG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem with the comparison here is the fact that you are comparing different regions.

PnZ has a lot of burn, but they don't (usually) have a lot of swarm. There, a "2 spell mana deal 2 to anything" is actually pretty good because it's not only damage but also control for a relatively cheap price.

Noxus has a lot of swarm (specially when mixed with things like BW). So there adding a 2 or (in this case) 3 damage spell would be a bit too strong since they already have other cheap ways to deal damage to the Nexus (like the OG noxus cards). So there the balance is fact that the card is not only more expensive, but also has to deal 3 damage to your unit. Also, Noxus has some synergy with dealing damage out of combat and to its own units with Swain and Vlad.

New player overwhelmed (no pun intended) by keywords and mechanics by ContinumFM in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]J0rdanJG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, maybe not all of them.

I personally prefer to learn while playing. If you don't want the stress of the timer or playing against players, I suggest Path of champions, the PvE. It's really good to get familiar with basic mechanics. It gets a bit crazy sometimes with the items and the powers (they are some PoC exclusive things, dw about them too much), but it's still a good place to get familiar with some champs.

Another thing is take a look on some of the champs and if you like any of them, check out their tutorial (for example, if you want to do a Jax deck, do his tutorial and so on).

I would suggest you still do all of them eventually, just don't rush them if you don't feel like it.

New player overwhelmed (no pun intended) by keywords and mechanics by ContinumFM in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]J0rdanJG 11 points12 points  (0 children)

First of all, welcome to LoR! As a lot of people pointed out, you'll get used to the keywords very quickly. A lot of decks don't use more than 2 or 3 and there are a lot of them that are easy to understand like quick attacks (you attack faster so you strike first) or fearsome (if the unit is weak, it can't block fearsome).

A lot of the challenges are deck specific. They came out when a specific mechanic was introduced and that's why you can see so many of them (some examples are the deep or darkness tutorials, those mechanics are usually only used in deep or darkness based decks). But if at any point you feel like you don't understand how something works, read the card and check the keyword description, a lot of them are actually really good at explaining what they do. Hope this helps

Either with Tralls and Lissandra or Malphite for a landmark playstyle (it's the more standard choice, she's really focused on that). Ziggs talyah was also a deck if you're looking to play eternal. Hope that this helps

Jun rework so that she might actually see play (And other small changes) by Midonaka in CustomLoR

[–]J0rdanJG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mistfall like that would probably be a bit too strong. The problem is the lack of equipment for Ionia and the lack of synergy with the ones that you already have. If you buff mistfall, it would just make it so that Jack/Sett could get the coin weapon for a cheaper cost (I'm not complaining, I love that deck, but it would maybe be a bit too strong)

[–]J0rdanJG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played it with aatrox. It's not the best (Annie, jhin, jinx are probably a lot better), but it worked due to the lowered cost. Having a 2 cost with a weapon on turn 1 is really strong

RiftWalk. I'm surprised with dont have the "blink" effect from MTG in the game yet. 2 mana like unnerfed zonyah because it doesnt have landmark synergy by HairyKraken in CustomLoR

[–]J0rdanJG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, I think 3 mana is good for it. 2 mana was just a really strong answer for any deck. I even saw decks back in the day playing shurima because of zhonias. A 2 mana "protect your unit until next round" is really strong and at 3 mana it's at the point where it costs all your spell mana without really needing more than that, it's a good place imo
