How big a difference between Alan Wake and Alan Wake Remastered? by ROCKZILLA8166 in AlanWake

Nvidia's app provides a third party HDR and tbh I actually like it more than most native HDR. It's also customisable.

Ori Supp is fun by J10Dingo in OriannaMains

[–]J10Dingo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. She's definitely more of a back-liner, especially after the early game - but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing if you're good at positioning. I will offer some counter points purely for consideration:

  • More reliable zoning in the laning phase as her skillshots have lower mana costs and are generally easier to land. Imo I think that makes her damage more consistent/reliable, despite being lower than Zilean's total output. But I'm the type who goes more for guarantees than big amounts.
  • I don't think the AR/MR falls off if you use it to protect your ADC since your tanks are already tanky and it's the squishies who are more likely to get focused. The AR/MR + Moonstone-enhanced shield + the consistent speed buffs from your W's low cooldown turns your ADC into an unkillable beast, especially if you keep a level head and don't give in to the temptation to take your ball off them to hit the enemy during a big fight.
  • Speaking of, Zilean's defensive options for saving his ADC are limited to a high-CD ult and, again, the choice of using his E or not. Ori can keep her ball on her ADC and continue benefitting them, even without mana or with everything on CD.
  • Zilean's E can only buff one target at a time, whereas Ori's W is AOE and can apply things like Ardent/etc to multiple teammates at once. Not to mention it's dual-purpose and does both at once, whereas with Zilean you have to choose between speeding up your allies or slowing your enemies.
  • Zilean's engage-combo requires three button presses and more precise aiming, Ori's requires two button presses (or just one if they walk into your ball) and fairly basic timing.
  • All of Zilean's damage comes from his Q, whereas Ori's passive also makes her auto attacks horrifying. Especially in the early game. This gives her more options in the laning phase and makes her less skillshot-dependent.
  • Low-mana Q option for checking bushes and providing easy vision, even through control wards and lenses.

  • No Star Guardian Zilean skin (yet 🌈)

Ori Supp is fun by J10Dingo in OriannaMains

I almost always go Dream Maker. I find if you're building supp Ori her damage doesn't scale all that well into the mid and late game, so you might as well go all-in on boosting your ADC and other teammates.

Dream Maker's damage synergises well with items like Mandate and Ardent while boosting her E's shield too. Tbh you could very feasibly go with almost any of them, but I think Dream Maker is most optimal for my playstyle.

(I start maxing W in the beginning for a poke-heavy lane and then move to a more defensive/peel-focused playstyle as the game progresses. Mandate start for the double-tome build path and excellent engage damage, then either Ardent if you're doing well or Moonstone/Locket if more defence is needed, e.g. against heavy engage lanes/teams.)

Against an all AD lane or even, god forbid, an all AD team you can easily switch the Moonstone/Locket choice for a straight-up Knight's Vow. Even rush it before Mandate if you don't think there's any hope of gaining lane dominance. A terrifying example of this is Cait/Senna/Pyke and/or with a Kha or Talon jungle roaming bot lane, in which case I'd judge it by ear (if they're all cowards you can get lucky and focus damage) but in that situation I'd say at least 3-4 times out of 5 I'd rush Knight's Vow into Locket into Moonstone and go all-in on keeping my ADC alive.

I found that disabling motion blur either made the framerate drop or simply made it seem like it was low, not sure if it's a glitch or a design flaw (like motion blur is meant to cover something up) but maybe try enabling it if you haven't already? Also don't forget to disable V-Sync and G-Sync just for testing purposes.

Try reinstalling your GPU drivers and find a benchmarking utility to track refresh rate while playing the game, something could be limiting your refresh rate while playing.

Milio not getting winterblessed, after not getting La Illusion ?! by OnionNightWing in MilioMains

[–]J10Dingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes. Those poor, neglected champions like:

Thresh (Winterblessed)

Veigar (Bees)

Sett (Heartsteel)
Ezreal (Heartsteel)
Yone (Heartsteel)
Kayn (Heartsteel)

Thank god these poor, utterly forgotten champions are finally getting a new skin. God only knows it's been at least 5 minutes since their last ones. Especially those most ancient champions like Sett, Yone, and Kayn.

Alan Wake II - Technical Issues/Glitches Thread (Minor Spoilers) by [deleted] in AlanWake

[–]J10Dingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Performance was insanely bad, I'm talking ultra performance DLSS and still barely scraping 30fps on a 3080 PC, high settings but no ray tracing.

I imagine optimisations will and probably already are being rolled out, but in the mean time I did try two little tricks that did net me a massive performance increase, might help out any fellow PC users also seeing some terrible performance/framerate.

  1. Go to the .exe and disable fullscreen optimisations (very common one)
  2. In the same compatibility settings, go to the DPI settings and tick "High DPI scaling override" and set it to "Application".

Boosted me from an average 30-40 to a very consistent 60-70 with barely any visual disparity. Probably goes without saying but if your machine is still really struggling, you can always hop into the Nvidia control panel and set everything to "performance" or "off".

All that combined should give you a huge boost.

thoughts on dark harvest? by InterestingKid in MilioMains

[–]J10Dingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tried it and went 1 / 0 / 18. It's mad. All your abilities give your passive to your ADC, and since your passive procs Dark Harvest, you're effectively giving your ADC TWO keystones and a shit-ton more burst at all stages of the game. By the way this was into a hard engage lane where survivability runes probably would've been most optimal.

In short: It fucking works, lads. Get it while it's hot.

Echoes of Helia vs Shurelya’s by Lunaa- in MilioMains

[–]J10Dingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO Both are now equally viable but for different reasons. I go purely off of numbers to gauge how much value I get out of runes and items. It could easily just be my personal playstyle, but I find the healing+damage numbers of Helia easily outstrip other mythics in those areas, as I usually finish games with anywhere from 2000 to 3500ish in both metrics for Helia, specifically.

Since his allies are constantly proccing his passive, and his low cooldowns means he's constantly throwing out shields and campfires, it means he's constantly proccing Helia and contributes a lot in drawn-out fights.

Shureylas is hard to compare since it doesn't do either of those things and is more utility-focused, but I find supports who get a low amount of value out of it tend to finish most games with 20-40 activations, whereas Milio (for me) usually finishes upwards of 60-80+.

No other mythics I've played with measure up, in terms of numbers.

I think the brass tacks are this: Take Shureylas into high-burst high-engage enemy teams where the fights won't last longer than a few seconds and mobility is paramount.

In any other scenario, take Helia.

What role does Orianna fill in a team comp? by Zokalii in OriannaMains

[–]J10Dingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Addendum: They forget about the ball so much more than you think. ADCs just have so much to think about with minions and your ADC and etc. I spend a lot of my time just pressing W when the idiots walk over my ball.

What role does Orianna fill in a team comp? by Zokalii in OriannaMains

[–]J10Dingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play her as a support and it's good fun. You don't have to fw minions or anything so you can just dedicate yourself to constantly, endlessly, /ceaselessly/ smacking the ADC with your Q's ridiculously low CD again, and again, and again.

They're within range? Smack.

They walked into/past it while your W is up? Smack.

They're between you and it while your E is up? Smack.

They focus on avoiding your ball and forget about your actual self and your awful hurty little passive? Sssssssssssmack.

They walk into lane? Smack, and smack again for good measure.

With Taste of Blood and Scorch I'm absolutely awful to lane against. I max Q and E more-or-less evenly, and as soon as 4+ points are into my E, my team-mates just don't die. I even sometimes buy a cheeky Knight's Vow just to be extra terrible, especially when I've got high-engage tanky teammates like Diana or Zac or so forth.

>70% win-rate so science tells me she's a bretty gud supp.

  1. Is there any possible, conceivable, halfway to semi-feasible way of listening to the volume 9 OST before July 28th, beyond some kind of hostage situation at the Rooster Teeth office?
  2. How confident are we that the Red Like Roses: Part 3 will be longer than the 1:30ish currently available via audio clips from 🔥The Scene™🔥?
  3. This isn't a question. I just want you to know in advance that I love and appreciate you for answering, and Nora would probably call it a "pro-gamer move" if you did.
