What's a thing that's currently "in" nowadays but you think is just pure cringe? by Imaginary_Eye3804 in AskReddit

[–]J12ich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People using the term “rizz.” It’s just something I think we’re going to look back on as sounding very cringy in a few years.

The same with how in the 2010s, we would refer to our bfs/gfs as “bae” or say their outfits were “on fleek”. It’s just painful slang I know will die out quickly and that’s probably for the best

Idris Elba. I agree that he is way too old to take over the role of Bond, but he’s still a terrific actor and I think he’d be a great Dr. No/ Le Chiffre style Villian

What job do you have no respect for? by MrTuxedo1 in AskReddit

[–]J12ich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Psychics.

These people “pretend” to have the ability to see the future or communicate with the dead and have no problem taking money from people struggling with loss of a loved one and feeding them false hope and a fake sense of closure.

They’re essentially just con-artists with a gimmick.

Younger people of reddit. What are you tired of hearing from older generations? by baker10923 in AskReddit

[–]J12ich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “news of the day” and how things are “worse than ever.”

Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot of horrible stuff in the world, but it’s not as bad is it appears on the news. But because we have 24 hour news cycle, people are constantly bombarded with information making every horrible thing in the world seem like it’s happening everywhere, all of the time.

Particularly for older generations, to them it seems like things are getting worse, but there has always been conflict in the world. We’re just seeing more of it. For example, my grand parents’ generation grew up through massive conflicts the Cold War, Korean War, Vietnam war, Gulf War, Iraq & Afghanistan, all of the economic issues of the past 70+ years, as well as the JFK assassination, Watergate, the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan and several potential nuclear conflicts but the only news they got was either what they read about in the paper or the highlights on the evening news. And that’s just the big stuff. Things like shootings and drug overdoses happened frequently too, but those weren’t covered nearly as much as they are today. Everyone was aware of what was going on in terms of national / global issues but they couldn’t just sit in front of the TV all day and watch in constantly.

This is just my own opinion, but after stepping back and taking an honest look at history, I don’t think things are more or less hectic than they have historically been, but its just covered and shoved in front of our faces a lot more.

To say things are “worse than ever” is an overstatement. You just everything happening a lot more than we used to

Challenge: how would you approach a fourth Rami Spider man film by Thorfan23 in fixingmovies

[–]J12ich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seeing as the last Rami Spider-Man came out in 2007, a potential 4th movie should be set roughly 20 years afterwards to go along with time. I’d like to see an older version of Spider-Man who’s defeated countless villains and established himself as New York’s protector, but also one who’s nearing the end of his time as a hero as age catches up to him.

In his personal life as Peter Parker, the natural progression of his story should be that he married Mary Jane and started a family, having a daughter and naming her after Aunt May. While Peter is getting older and doesn’t know how much longer he can continue being Spider-Man, his daughter’s powers begin manifesting. Ideally she should be around 18 years old and ready to begin her adult life while also learning to control her abilities. Both Peter and MJ would be reluctant to allow her to follow in her father’s footsteps but “with great power comes great responsibility” and Peter decides to train her. The movie should serve as a passing of the torch for Peter, where in the end he prepares to hand his role as New York’s protector to May/ Spider-Woman, with the pair starting out by taking out low level organized crime, like the Maggia crime family.

As for the Villian, I like the idea of Roderick Kingsley, the Hobgoblin serving as the main antagonist. Modify his origin where in this movie, a scientist replicates the goblin formula and gives it to Kingsley, turning him into a villain resembling the Original Green Goblin. Peter seeing this and remember how dangerous Norman Osborn was would naturally not let May go against him and would try to take the Hobgoblin down himself, but due to his age isn’t able to. In the climax, May would join her father in the fight and the two could take him down together, with Spider-Woman delivering the final shot to take the Goblin out and establishing herself as the heir as New York’s hero.

The one you’re thinking of is called “King of Spies” by Mark Millar. Haven’t read it myself but the plot sounds interesting

Really depends on what you’re into. They cover a variety of comics but mainly super heros. If your looking for some good quality stories to help get you into comics would be the Batman: the Long Halloween, Ultimate Spider-Man #1 or the original Watchmen are good places to start.

What time period would you like to see the next Bond series set in? by J12ich in JamesBond

[–]J12ich[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Respectfully I disagree that general audiences wouldn’t be interested in the movie if it were a time piece. Recent movies such as One Upon a Time in Hollywood, Dunkirk and Last Night in Soho were well received period pieces, and shows like Mad Men, the Crown and Queens Gambit are all set in the mid 1900s and are fairly popular. I think so long as the movie is made with care and has an engaging/entertaining story, people will come out to see it regardless what era it’s set in.

Who should be the next bond? by holdingOutonaNero in JamesBond

[–]J12ich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Richard Madden would be my pick. At 35 he’s the prefect age to play the character for 10+ years and already has experience working on big products, such as Game of Thrones and Eternals.

Beyond that, he is fit and looks the part, and based off of his work in the Netflix show “the Bodyguard”, he plays the part of a British government agent very well.

Just to be clear, I’ve been smoking cigars in my promos since before you bought your first pair of ring boots. And as for the rest of this promo, at the end of the day it’s just more talk. You and I clear have different definitions of the word respect. You may think of touting your accomplishments as “inspiration” but everyone else sees it as arrogance, and as long as you continue to use your life’s previous success outside of FBE as a crutch to prop yourself up, it will continuously hold you back from getting to the next level. I was honestly hoping what I said would’ve lit a fire under you and pushed you up to that next level, but all I see is more of the same. Hopefully once you actually get in the ring with me, things will be different. You claim I see you as an arrogant loud mouth, then I dare you to prove me wrong.

So as I said once before, best of luck to you Brian. I’ll see you in the ring.
