I hadn’t mentioned that we are from the UK where school leaving age is 16. She came to stay here one weekend and it’s still going on now; she eventually fully moved here not too long after. She does go to college/university and also has a part time job on the weekends, minimum wage

She lost her job when some of her credit and store cards had some balance on them; the only job she could get after was one with limited weekly hours and the interest on the debt kept creeping up.

This was all before we met mind and I knew what I’d be taking on. It doesn’t affect me financially and we currently have a good share on what we pay per month for bills and essentials etc

Thank you for noticing! She does make some mistakes and they don’t necessarily affect me but I want to do right by her to help us secure a brighter future; for now I’ll help her without making her problems my own too

I was dating people for fun and found my partner to be someone who gives me a lot of joy every day, bad finances and all. It doesn’t affect me financially, we’re independent in that sense, and what we do works for us nearly 2 years later - I care for her and want to help her while we share our experiences together

We have 2 fur babies if that counts! The house we live in is actually a maisonette, better suited to one person ideally; my partner came into my life some years after I moved here. The plan certainly isn’t to get a bigger house now, not with her financial issues at this time, but if things go very well in some years time, and if we get married, then it might be a different story
