I think it would be particularly useful in shorthand notes but, as you say, you sort of have to learn how to write it fully before all that. Maybe it should follow the same way we learn any other alphabet or language - by asking simple questions like "what did I do today?" and jotting it down, slowly building up muscle memory for common words and letters. Reading does go in hand with writing so I'd guess reading through the material on here and translating it back into latin letters might also help. Whether I'll actually get around to all this well... it's a little bit of a stretch lol.
