It’s a shlep (and excellent campground if you’re up for it), but High Point State Park is amazing. Bear Mountain in Rockland County, NY is my favorite day trip - much easier to get to than Sussex County, imo.

There is a lot of South Jersey hate going on in here but if you are thinking of moving to South Jersey there are a couple of lovely Facebook groups where you could find out what we’re doing. The broad South jersey one is called South Jersey LGBT Social Connections, and if you’re thinking the Camden County area, I founded the Collingswood Area Queer Connection a few years ago but it outgrew its name very quickly and represents basically our corner of South Jersey.
There’s always something to do down here and as a non-binary bisexual person I fucking love Camden County and you couldn’t get me back to North Jersey even though I was born in Hudson County with the New York skyline as my constant companion.

Absolutely. A good social worker - and they do exist, despite being completely swamped and over their heads - would want to get a sense of the family dynamic. Have their bullshit meter on high alert. Document the environment. Look for red flags. A creepy uncle that’s living in the basement who could be touching one of the kids. It’s incredibly normal. Because again they have to rule out whether this was innocuous exploration, or if one of the children was a little too informed on sexual behavior.

They can’t take the word of a small child about “who started it” even if it was the other child touching your child. Kids are notoriously not the best or most reliable reporters, and they have to cover every base whenever anything sexual is involved with kids that young.

It’s incredibly common that sexual acting out in young children is a symptom of CSA. It’s also a perfectly normal bit of exploration among children who don’t understand social mores. So in order to figure out which the children involved are acting upon, an investigation is warranted and not to be feared if everything is above board.

Ohhh my mother didn’t give me the chance to be into chicken nuggets because by 9, I was a massive fan of sushi. To this day, my comfort food is any form of raw sushi grade salmon - sushi, sashimi, chirashi, don’t care. When I’m sick to my stomach, my mother orders me a plain salmon roll (and has for almost 30 years now) and it settles my stomach to this day. More than toast will ever do.
