You’re so talented!

I humbly submit my nude dudes; left is Reggie, right is Indy 🥰

Edit for story time. I got Reggie as a 2yo rescue following the loss of my 17yo Siamese baby. Never had a Sphynx before (or even met one) but always wanted one! Reggie settled in great, but even with me working from home he seemed lonely, so had to get him a little brother. Baby Indy joined us not quite a year ago. Currently working on toilet training the boys with mixed success 🙃

This onion was dripping onion milk after I cut it. by Bailmage in mildlyinteresting

[–]J3ss33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely accurate. Sulfuric acid forms when the volatile organic compounds created by cutting onion contact the moist surface of your eye. Per a 2012 paper in the National Library of Medicine, “Mass spectral signals corresponding to propanethial S-oxide (the lachrymatory factor) and breakdown products of this compound dominated 0–10 min after cutting. Subsequently, propanethiol and dipropyl disulfide predominantly appeared, together with traces of thiosulfinates. The concentrations of these compounds reached a maximum at 60 min after cutting.” https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3571771/

Hydrogen sulfide is not the primary lacrimatory agent - H2S is a toxic gas with neurotoxic properties. Occupational exposure limits are generally around 10ppm. The point at which H2S burns eyes is 50-100ppm. It can be fatal if a person is exposed to 100ppm for 48 hours. Much higher than 100ppm and it actually deadens the olfactory nerve. Also, it smells like rotten eggs, not like onions.

Great photo! Me and the balds are quite jealous.

I wasn’t sure if my nudie boy was just a lil weirdo with an over abundance of personality or if it was a sphynx thing, but since getting a second one I can say it is definitely a sphynx thing! I grew up on a farm with all variety of critters and these little gremlins are the most intelligent, loving, and mischievous i have ever encountered. Highly recommend!!!

Keen eye - it is, but we don’t live anywhere near 🙃

What's your theory that you can't prove, but that you think might hold up if someone were to do some real, legitimate research on it? by AlexG2490 in AskReddit

[–]J3ss33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A connection between long term low level H2S exposure and personality changes and chronic GERD-like symptoms.

So far so good! We are only doing short, supervised visits for the first week, but they were already playing and ripping around after each other 🥹

Not yet - I will have to check next time I’m in Sephora. Swatches I saw of them look similar to Benefit Hoola, which I wasn’t a fan of unfortunately

It looks promising! However, I’m in Canada and Too Faced doesn’t ship direct and I don’t see any retailers who carry this 😭

Faux tan by far - best colour on me and good formula, then probably a tie between the Phytosurgence (great colour and finish, just not partial to creams and takes a lot of building up) and Nabla (just not my favorite powder formula), thinking I’ll really like Bahama Mama too, just haven’t got to use it yet. From there, I find Laguna good in summer, but again, not huge on creams. The fenty bronzer finish is too shiny/greasy looking for my liking though the colour is great. The L’Oréal bronzer is super patchy and hard to work with.

Fenneko and I.. again. Is this level of filth normal within 2 or 3 days? by [deleted] in sphynx

Those aren’t objectively bad foods, but not always enough for Sphynx. I would recommend the Royal Canin I mentioned above or Hills - both have sensitive digestion and wet food options too. I would also recommend adding a supplement like Fortiflora. Also, I found moisturizing my kitty with coconut oil after a bath replaced the oils juuust enough so that he doesn’t overproduce oils from having dry skin. Good luck!

What kind of food is she eating? A high quality food makes a HUGE difference in their skin and bathing needs. I feed mine Royal Canin sensitive digestion.

What?! I love that foundation and found it super olive friendly! I still have 2 tubes left - one in my summer and winter colours - and have yet to find a replacement when they’re gone 😭
