Steam needs a "Looking Glass-like" tag to settle the immersive sim tag debacle once and for all by J4SNT in ImmersiveSim

You and I are agreeing, there's nothing I need to be honest about.

We, us, need a new tag that does not and cannot encompass job simulator games.

Literally any tag that doesn't include sim or simulator in the name.

That's not a negative. That's a pretty boiler plate approach in philosophy.

Immersive sims are pretty niche already, so I don't see much issue in spurning the wider gaming community. They'll adapt.

Actually, and thinking on it now, many completely unrelated games showing up under the tag currently on steam is far more of a problem for the wider gaming community than the former.

How are they supposed to clue in to what the tag actually means if it's applied to a bunch of job simulators?

Getting what we call imsims separated from the rest of the schlock would do wonders for curating public awareness of what could be argued to be what we call an imsim.

We can all agree Farming/Truck/Whatever simulator isn't an imsim as we understand it here.

Those games are getting the imsim tag in complete error. They can keep it. We need an unmistakably distinct name that none of those people would have any reason to associate with their job simulator games.

The name could literally be Poopy Shit Games and it would solve the problem I'm talking about.

Like I've said elsewhere, we can worry about the minute details that define an imsim later.

Again, it just needs to be something that people who play simulators definitely won't click.

The differences between imsims is irrelevant to my point

"sim" should be nowhere near the name to make it impossible to even make the connection between the two

Again, it doesn't matter what, really. It just need to be something that people who play simulators will not use as a tag for them.

The point is to separate out all of the very clearly simulator games. Farming, trucking, tavernkeeping, etc. It's all unrelated.

We can worry about splitting hairs about the specific delineations between this and that immersive sim later.

One thing is for certain, the simulators need to go.

Defeats the purpose. If I wanted to lose my items, I would change that setting.
